One mum's request to edit the tooth fairy onto her child’s tooth has sparked a pretty illuminating debate online.

Now, it all started when one parent took to the Photoshop Request thread on Reddit to ask the wonderful people of the internet for a little assistance.

"My daughter has left a note for a tooth fairy to take a selfie with my phone holding her tooth. Can anyone help with a realistic-looking fairy selfie, somehow holding a similar tooth? Can be distorted / like taken in a hurry. Help please!" they pleaded.

Thankfully, several people rushed in to mock-up images of their take on the tooth fairy - but, it's safe to say, people had very differing ideas on what the mythical creature actually looked like regarding the sizing front.

Some depicted the tooth fairy as a human-sized entity with the tooth to scale, while others were dead set on the magical being's stature being miniature, with the tooth being way bigger than them.

After clocking the perception disparity, one Reddit user shared: "You know what? I never once thought of the tooth fairy as a tiny entity. It was always like an adult, similar to what Santa would be. I am old and have some kids. We did the tooth fairy thing, and you have just blown my mind lol."

"Me, either!" a second chimed in: "I always assumed the tooth fairy was adult-sized (unlike most fairies, which are, of course, tiny) because they'd need to handle a lot of cash for kids each night and be capable of lifting pillows easily and quickly."

A third agreed: "Yeah, I never thought of them as tiny either!"

Others, however, including myself, couldn't have disagreed more.

"Are you kidding?! Of course, the tooth fairy is tiny. Along with all the other fairies that live at the bottom of your garden. As well as those who live in the forests. They live amongst us, tiny but ever-present," piped up a fourth.

A fifth quipped: "Omg they were always tiny in my childhood, our parents even wrote us teeny tiny notes!"

"I always thought of them as tiny. No reason why," confessed another.

And a final Redditor simplified the whole thing, pointing out: "Probably because fairies are small. And one would think that the tooth fairy is a fairy."

If it wasn't yet obvious, I'm team tiny all the way! What team are you on?
