A brand releasing breast milk-flavoured ice cream in nine months time has divided opinion, as they describe the sweet treat as 'nutrient packed goodness'.

Studies suggest that 70 per cent of women have tried their own breast milk, but still, bringing out an ice cream flavour feels a little next level.

To celebrate the launch of their new breast pump, brand Frida has announced the release of their breast milk ice cream, which you'll be glad to know doesn't include anyone's actual breast milk.

The frozen 'sweet and creamy' treat is supposed to mimic the taste, but it's safe to say it has divided opinion.

In a statement announcing their new product, Frida said: "The ice cream will be a pitch perfect representation of the sweet, creamy, nutrient packed goodness we’ve all wanted to try but have been afraid to ask and will include some of its same nutrients including fats (Omega-3 brain fuel!), carbs (energy-boosting lactose), important vitamins (iron, calcium, Vitamin B and D, and zinc), plus lots of H2O for hydration."

But like any pregnant mother, you'll have to wait nine months to get a taste of the controversial ice cream.

While many people have been asking 'why' on earth they would release such a thing, Frida has said that they have been 'obsessed' with feeding babies forever.

They claim that there has been enormous chatter online about what breast milk actually tastes like, with research suggesting that a lot of people either try their own or their partners.

So, they decided to come up with a frozen treat that 'satisfies your late night cravings, and also fuels your body'.

But people in the comments seemed to be divided.

One user, excited for the launch, said: "I love all of this and here for the chaos. I’ll take it with whipped cream and sprinkles please."

Another said: "I’m actually excited for this."

A third added: "Oh I will be trying this."

But others weren't completely sold on the product.

One person said: "I literally cannot believe more than one person thought this was a good idea."

A second wrote: "This has to be a joke."

Others have suggested that the brand's post is actually an early April Fool's Day joke.

"I feel like this is an early April fools…If it’s not tho sign me up," one noted.

Another added: "I feel like someone is April fooling us early."
