A mum from Australia has been praised after admitting she thinks going to work is a lot easier than staying home with the kids.

Especially since the pandemic, working from home (WFH) has become a lot more common and while the vast majority of companies are now at least part-time back in the office, WFH certainly remains in place for part of the week for many of us.

Obviously, setting up the laptop from home can bring added distractions such as the kids, especially during half-term - as many I'm sure will be aware of right now.

Anyway, whether you work from home or not, TikToker Sarah Torresan (@imperfectalignment) asked the question: "Does the person who works outside the home need more sleep?"

The video has gone viral since it was uploaded on TikTok earlier this month, as Sarah revealed in the caption: "If I had a choice between staying at home with the kids or working after a rough night … I would choose a work day EVERY TIME."

In the video, the Aussie mum said: "I feel like I’m qualified to speak to this because I have both working days and stay-at-home mum days.

"I want to tell you something that the working parent probably doesn’t want stay-at-home parents to know."

The mum then insisted that 'going to work is so much easier than staying home with kids', and proceeded to give a number of reasons to back up her case.

Sarah says that she is able to commute to work by herself, listening to one of her favourite podcasts or music.

She adds that working away from home allows her to grab a coffee while walking through the city, have adult conversations with other people in the office, and use different parts of the brain she hasn't used in a while.

And then come home time, Sarah gets to listen to her music/podcast once more.

At this point, Sarah claims she is missing her kids and they are missing her, and they can't wait to see each other.

The mum then compared that routine to staying at home with the kids, she said: "From the second you open your eyes in the morning, until you close them at night, you are on. You are putting out fires over the most insanely irrational things.

"t’s constant conflict. It’s constant everyone else’s needs. You’re being yelled at for things, it is all about what you need to do for someone else."

Since Sarah uploaded the video to TikTok, it has garnered close to 800 comments on the video platform, with users expressing their thoughts.

"I would lose my mind as a stay at home mother," one person exclaimed.

A second added: "Agree but even at work I'm STILL doing the mental load about everything i need to do once I clock off."

A third remarked: "I’m a chef so I pretty much get paid to do what I'd do at home but without the stress of juggling a baby. Work is such a nice break."

However, a fourth disagreed: "My job is harder than staying home with my babies. I find it way easier to be with my kids than go to work."
