Mum who named baby after snack says she doesn't care if she's going to get hate for it

People are divided over a mum's decision to call her daughter after a snack.

If I were to call my child after a type of food I often snack on, they'd probably emancipate themselves from me - Frazzle, Pringle, Kettle or Monster Munch aren't exactly the sort of names you'd be buzzing to respond to when the school morning register is being called.

However, one mum decided a snack would be the perfect name for her daughter. The question is, what does the TikToker snack on?

Mum-of-two Chantel Schnider took to the platform last month to reveal to her followers what she decided to call one of her children.

In the video the mum can be seen slurping juice from a jar of pickles.

The caption reads: "I'm going to get hate for her name but we will call her... Pickle."

Now, I can't deny Pickle's not an adorable name and that I love it - I did call my dog Pickle after all. But a child? Well, not all of Schnider's followers were convinced, to say the least.

Drum roll please... And the name is, Pickle.

Some users defended the mum's choice of name.

One TikToker said: "My 24 year old daughter has always been our pickle!"

"YOU HAVE TO DO THE PICKLE TREND!!!(cute name btw)," another wrote.

However, many weren't keen and expressed concern for the child being teased later on in life.

One user said: "Don’t be surprised when she comes back from school crying."

A second added: "Pickle… will you marry me?"

Another wrote: "WHO THE HELL SPITS OUT A CHILD LOOKS AT HER/HIM AND SAYS 'I'll name you pickle'??"

A final resolved: "She not gonna forgive u for that when she grows up."

TikTokers have warned the mum her daughter could get bullied over her name.

Indeed, while pickle is a sweet term of endearment used by many, it is, ultimately, the name for a small pickled cucumber.

Or, as per the Urban Dictionary, 'the corpse of a brutally drowned cucumber'.

On the other hand, it can also be used to describe getting into a bit of a tricky situation.

None of which are massively great definitions to be associated with - unless you love pickles clearly.

In a follow-up video, Schnider addressed some of the backlash she's faced for her daughter's name.

In the clip, she quotes one of the comments she's received, which states: "You can't name your child Pickle."

Singing along to a song, she replies: "Why not?"

The caption resolves: "I think her name fits her just perfectly don’t you besties?"
