American McDonald's fans are set to be buzzing as the popular restaurant has teased a comeback of two of their most beloved classic items, years after they were discontinued.

The chicken-based deals have been sorely missed by most and were two of the chain's most popular offerings before they were snatched away.

But it seems the complaints and online outcry was worth it as company executives have admitted it was actually the social media pressure from fans that prompted them to make the menu change.

Rumours of the fan-favourite Snack Wrap's return proved to be true, with a tweet from McDonald’s senior marketing director Guillaume Huin saying: "If you ever wonder if your posts here matter, if they have an impact, if we even care, let me tell you something, you and you only with your countless posts and requests and petitions made it happen."

The boss jokingly added: "They were in all our meetings, all our discussions, every single powerpoint to make a case for it. You won, Snack Wrap fans. Thank you."

McDonald's also quote-tweeted his post, saying they would reappear on menus in 2025.

Huin went on to award the Snack Wrap the prestigious title of being the 'most requested item of all time'.

The fast food giant also revealed plans for an updated and fresh take on the popular Chicken Selects in the USA, which are still reigning supreme over in the UK.

The Chicken Selects vanished from menus in 2015, with the Snack Wrap following just one year later to the dismay of fans.

In an attempt to please the crowd, McDonald's offered Buttermilk Crispy Tenders as a replacement in 2017, however, they were discontinued again by 2020.

It comes just after CEO Chris Kempczinski lifted the lid on the company's chicken-related plans at the fourth-quarter earnings call - and confirmed the news that everyone was eagerly waiting to hear.

He said: “This year, there is incredible energy for the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S. along with a few other markets. And the U.S. will also launch a new chicken strip offering." Kempczinski added: "We'll continue to pulse in the Chicken Big Mac as a limited-time-only offering over time."

Although the 'chicken strip offering' hasn't been directly confirmed to be the Selects, fans are crossing their fingers.

Meanwhile, the CEO is being very tight-lipped about the specific timings and is refusing to give away details of when the fan-favourite items could be making their return.

He cryptically said: "We do have, I think, some very exciting food news, food innovation coming in the U.S., but my U.S. team would kill me if I gave any more details about the when and the exact specifics of how we’re going to plan on doing that, but certainly expect that to come online later in the year."
