We're all familiar with that feeling when you're hyped for an online order to arrive, only for it to falls ridiculously short of your expectations on arrival.

An unsuspecting pooch appeared to be experiencing those exact feelings when she got a pool that turned out to be the size of her water bowl.

Fluffy two-year-old Newfoundland Darcy loves splashing around in water, to the extent that her owner Chelsea Sparks decided to treat her to a paddling pool for the summer.

But what looked to be a roomy paddling pool turned out to be too small for even a Chihuahua to dip its paw in - and the look on Darcy's face says it all.

Oh, Darcy, we've all been there hun. Hope you kept the receipt.

Owner Chelsea, who works as a lawyer, said: "Darcy absolutely loves water.

"Every time we take her to the dog park she gets straight in. So, when the weather picked up my stepdad ordered her a pool online.

"He described the pool as a 'bargain' and said we may have to wait a little longer than usual as it was coming from China.

"When it was delivered we didn't know what it was as it was folded up so small. When we realised it was the dog pool we thought it was hysterical.

"We then put the pool next to Darcy and took a photo."

Chelsea's unsuspecting stepdad had ordered the 'pool' after seeing it advertised on Facebook, with big dogs seen getting in and out of the design easily.

Both Chelsea and her stepdad found the mishap hysterical and went on to post snaps of a dejected-looking Darcy online - much to the enjoyment of followers.

Chelsea added: "We think it may have been a scam, however we were so entertained we didn't give it much thought.

"My stepdad isn't very technical so he didn't realise. He hasn't contacted the company yet, I am going to help him with this in the coming days.

"We sent photos to our friends, who all thought it was comical. That is when I decided to post it online to a dog group, as I knew they would find it funny too."

As for Darcy, she's now one very happy pooch, as she has a new and improved paddling pool from Amazon which is big enough to splash around in.
