Mum left in stitches after £5 kid's paddling pool arrives

The tiny pool wasn't exactly what she'd had in mind for her young sons to enjoy

A mum was left red-faced after she found a bargain £5 paddling pool, which she thought would be ideal for her sons to enjoy during the hot weather - but ended up with one that was so small even her five-year-old couldn't fit in.

Samantha Ward, 37, wanted to get a pool for her sons Jenson, 11, and five-year-old Jonah, to cool off in and thought she’d found a bit of a bargain while out at a car boot sale.

Despite the packaging clearly stating the pool measured 56cm in diameter and 15cm high, Samantha had assumed the ‘kid's paddling pool' would be large enough for her little ones to enjoy - but that was not the case.

After unveiling the teeny paddling pool, which the mum-of-three says is only big enough for her pet pooch, she took some hilarious snaps of her miffed son Jonah’s reaction.

Samantha, from Manchester, said: "It said 'kid's paddling pool' so I thought it would be a decent size. It didn't say baby swimming pool or anything like that.

"I thought my sons would fit in it. It was really hot and I wanted to get them one. I got them one before and they wanted to go in that but it was too big and needed cleaning.

The packaging had the size of the pool on, but mum Samantha 'misjudged' it.

"They were excited when I said 'let's get one'.

"I asked the people selling it if it was a kid's paddling pool and if there was anything wrong with it and they said no.

"I thought it was a bit of a bargain and couldn't believe nobody had taken it. I paid £5 which is quite a lot for a car boot.

"When we got it out of the bag, I could see it was small. I blew it up and my son looked like he was going to cry but we burst out laughing. It was worth the laugh.

"It doesn't even fit my five-year-old. It's only big enough to fit a chihuahua. It's not for a child or a person."

Samantha later tried to save the day by rushing to the supermarket to pick up a bigger paddling pool, but found they'd all sold out.

The pint-sized pool is barely big enough to fit reception student Jonah, but Samantha said she's keeping it for her new grandchild, due in August.

Samantha said: "I could just fit my feet in it. I've got a grandchild on the way so I might keep it for them.

"We gave up trying to find a pool in the end and I used the tiny one to dip my feet in."
