Bride hits out at ‘rude’ wedding guest for bringing her own food but people think she had a good reason

A bride labelled her guest as ‘rude’ after she brought her own food to the wedding.

Whether you think your wedding food is the best food available, it’s really up for debate.

Even though it can cost up to hundreds her plate (depending on what you order), sometimes guests just want to eat something else.

Writing in Reddit's AITA ('Am I The A**hole?'), one person detailed what happened when she brought her own grub to her friend’s wedding.

The Redditor said that she and her husband attended a mostly vegan and veggie wedding, but she was a ‘meat eater’ who ‘wasn’t particularly keen on the menu’ and kept having ‘horrible bursts of really intense hunger’.

She explained: “I want mostly carbs, and there weren’t really any on the menu.

“There were some cheeses but the staff couldn’t say if they were pasteurised or not, so I couldn’t have them.”

The reason she couldn’t have unpasteurised cheese was actually because she was pregnant.

According to the Redditor, the wedding festivities spanned three days, which meant that she would have been held captive to whatever the bride and groom had planned for food.

So, she opted to bring some of her own snacks to curb her hunger.

She wrote: “My solution was taking some food with me. I took a small mini fridge to have in my room, and brought stuff to make sandwiches and a few snacks.

“When I was hungry, I’d pop to my room and have something to eat.”

However, some guests noticed she kept sneaking back to her room during the wedding and questioned her.

She continued: “Someone asked why I was going to the room and I mentioned I was just getting something to eat.

"This got back to the bride, who said I was rude and implying the catering wasn’t good enough."

The guest was left wondering if she was in fact the a**hole for eating her own food, but Reddit users were quick to settle the debate.

One person wrote: “NTA [not the a**hole] - you are pregnant.

“Eat what you want to eat! You didn’t bring out a full meal at the table and ignore what was presented to you, you brought extra food that you knew you’d enjoy and you ate it at the hotel room.”

Another added: "NTA. If you pulled out your own meal at the wedding I would have said different but you ate in your room."

While a third commented: "NTA. The a**hole was the person who asked why you’re going to your room."

However, others were curious about her choice.

Someone else wrote: “INFO - When you responded to the RSVP, did you make a food selection? This would be the only thing I could think of for the bride to be angry about.”

What do you think about the situation?
