McDonald's adds new chicken burger to permanent menu for first time in 15 years

McDonald's adds new chicken burger to permanent menu for first time in 15 years

This looks so good.

If your McDonald's order usually consists of chicken over beef, you'll be pleased to hear that the fast-food chain is bringing out a brand new chicken burger - and it's dropping so soon.

And the best part is, it's set to be a permanent edition to the McDonald's menu - meaning you won't have to say goodbye to it in a few weeks' time.

Say hello to the McCrispy - which Maccies are calling a 'game changer' thanks to its delicious, crispy chicken. It's the first time McDonald's has added a permanent chicken burger to the menu in 15 years, so we're expecting big things.

The mouthwatering burger consists of a crunchy, 100 per cent chicken breast fillet, marinated in black pepper and cayenne. It's topped with classic mayonnaise with cracked black pepper and a savoury roasted chicken flavour and sandwiched in an artisan glazed bun with a sweet nutty toasted flavour. The bun is made using sourdough before being glazed and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

McDonald's describes the new addition as: "A crispy chicken sandwich made with tender and juicy [...] seasoned chicken.

"It's topped with shredded lettuce and creamy mayo-style sauce and served on a soft potato bun for a taste that's so McDonald's."

Droool.

And according to the fast-food chain, McDonald's fans are already loving the McCrispy, with the restaurant explaining that a very similar burger has already been trialled earlier this year in March.

The Crispy McFillet burger was rated higher than its competitors on taste, with testers particularly enjoying the crunchiness of the burger and the bun, too.

When it arrives in restaurants at 11am on 19 October, the McCrispy will be available for £6.49 as part of an extra-value meal.

The new face of the burger is telly presenter and chicken lover Maya Jama, who has recently been revealed to be taking over from Laura Whitmore on ITV reality series Love Island, when it returns to our screens in the new year.

Of the new burger, Maya said: "I love a chicken burger and am a self-confessed chicken connoisseur, so when I found out Maccies was launching this new burger, I had to get involved."

Maya will appear in a TV advert for the new burger, along with comedian Leigh Francis, Michael Dapaah and Elz the Witch.

The burger will drop in restaurants the day after McDonald's Monopoly draws to a close, on 18 October.
