A Marty Supreme star has set the record straight on whether actor Timothée Chalamet used a stunt double to film a risqué punishment scene, whilst claiming he was ‘freaked out’.
Chalamet, 30, is very much in the running with Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Dwayne Johnson to score another Oscar nomination with the A24 sports flick, Marty Supreme.
In the Josh Safdie-directed film, the star performs as Marty Mauser, a New York table tennis hustler, loosely based on Marty Reisman, who scored four bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships between 1948 and 1952.
Marty Supreme, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, I Love LA’s Odessa A’zion, and American rapper Tyler, the Creator, has already received three nominations at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.

These include: Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category, Best Actor for Chalamet, and Best Screenplay for Safdie and co-writer Ronald Bronstein.

Will Marty Supreme score the leading man his first Academy Awards Best Actor Academy Awards win? You’ll have to wait until March 15 to find out.
The comedy-drama currently has a solid 94 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, and has been awarded a high 4.3 star rating by Letterboxd users.
While some reviewers are praising the Dune actor’s performance and electric chemistry with his castmates, other cinephiles just can’t stop talking about that butt scene.

During one controversial scene, Mauser is publicly spanked with a paddle by Kevin O’Leary’s character, Milton Rockwell.
The humiliating scene takes place after the protagonist begs Rockwell for a second chance at playing at a Japanese exhibition match, which he originally turned down.
Rockwell agrees, as long as the paddling can take place.
This is somewhat of a revenge tactic for all the times Mauser insulted him during the movie.
According to O’Leary - who is making his acting debut in Marty Supreme - Chalamet insisted on not using a stunt double for the shocking butt beating scene.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Shark Tank favourite confirmed that the New York native filmed the moment with his own bare ass.
“He didn’t want the stunt double,” the 71-year-old businessman admitted. “I said, ‘Timmy, I’m going to have to belt your ass, are you sure you want to do this?’”
O’Leary continued: “He immortalised his ass on film for the rest of time. That scene freaks me out even now.

“I was really whacking him," he added in an interview with Variety, also claiming that the scene went 'on for hours'.
Despite not being fond of the ‘pretty f**king crazy’ moment, the Canadian has said he would have done ‘worse’ if he and someone were in the same situation as Rockwell and Mouser.
“I have no idea what the rules of acting are. I really don’t. I don’t give a s**t. I’m never going to take acting lessons,” he alleged. “I felt that I am Milton Rockwell — if I was in 1952, that would be me.”
