True crime lovers have been in for a right treat as of recent with a whole bunch of new releases cropping up for us to sink our teeth into.

We've been gripped by the extremely haunting The Body Next Door and the puzzling Body on the Beach but there's one particular throwback doc you're gonna definitely want to add to your 'to-watch' list.

And it's not the eerie story, great cinematography or anything else like that which sets it apart from other series in the beloved genre as the killer's horrifying confession is enough to be hailed as having the 'greatest ending of any true crime series ever'.

The Sky doc in question dives into the extremely bizarre history of real estate heir, Robert Durst.

Durst was long suspected in the still-unsolved 1982 disappearance of his wife Kathie McCormack as well as the subsequent murders of family friend Susan Berman and neighbour Morris Black.

The documentary is, of course, The Jinx and you can check out the trailer here:

Back in 2015, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst hit our screens which was later followed by The Jinx: Part II which aired a whole nine years on from the OG doc.

It reportedly took the filmmakers behind the first documentary two years to discover the audio of Durst's apparent confession to the murders of all three individuals.

The hot mic confession came about after Durst finished up an interview series director Andrew Jarecki.

He went to the bathroom, seemingly none the wiser his microphone was still recording.

After some rambling, Durst eventually concluded his monologue saying: "What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course."

The shocking confession eventually lead to Durst's arrest and eventual murder conviction.

Durst has since died aged 78 in 2022 in California hospital while serving a life sentence for the murder of Berman, his friend and confidante.

Viewers have since rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the doc, with one TikTok user writing: "This will never be beaten - it's 10/10 all day long."

A second agreed: "100% my mouth was wide open then entire time he was in that bathroom."

A third confessed: "I’m rarely scared by movies or crime shows but I watched this whole series on a night flight and it ruined my nerves.

"Even hearing it now sets me on edge."

"It’s a really good documentary," echoed someone else.
