OnlyFans star Megan Prescott has revealed which parts of Euphoria's sex work storylines missed the mark.
The actress and writer, 34, who starred as Katie Fitch in the double BAFTA-winning teen drama Skins, told Mashable that she hasn't seen a 'good portrayal' of sex work or online sex work on TV so far.
She told the publication, "I think there is such a snobbery in the world in general around sex work. For some reason, we think that they [sex workers] don't know their own industry better than anyone else."
The actress pointed out that a lot of mainstream TV shows that feature OnlyFans creators and sex workers as characters often don't have real-life sex workers as consultants.
While it's unknown whether this is the case for Euphoria, one of the cast members, Chloe Cherry, who portrays Faye, has been open about her previous work as an adult film star.
Euphoria season three features some very raunchy scenes as Cassie starts an OnlyFans (HBO) But, despite this, apparently, some of the storylines are still falling short when it comes to an accurate representation of the industry.
Referring to Sydney Sweeney's X-rated scene where she dresses up as a baby, Prescott told the outlet: "We've just had someone write a show about their fantasy of a type of sex work, and in doing that, the general public will be like, 'Oh my god. On OnlyFans, you can dress up as a baby. That's disgusting,' which is just not accurate."
For context, as pointed out by the publication, OnlyFans' Acceptable Use Policy prohibits any 'illegal activity, including actual, claimed, or role-played: exploitation, abuse, or harm of individuals under the age of 18'.
So, it's unlikely that the controversial baby scene would have been allowed in the real world.
If you're yet to see it, it appears in a montage of Cassie filming clips and taking pictures for her OnlyFans page, and sees her dress up in a sheer top paired with just underwear, while sucking on a dummy and spreading her legs apart. She's also wearing her hair in pigtails.
However, an OnlyFans creator has hit out at one specific detail (HBO) One X user wrote: "Cassie sexualized herself for male validation since day 1. But that story didn't need to be portrayed with a pedophilia fetish. Enough already."
While a second raged: "What the actual f***, this is wrong in so many ways. Was the f***ing pacifier needed.”
And a third penned: "The fact that nobody is taking this seriously is pissing me the f*** off??? this is literally feeding into a pedophilia kink what the F***.”
Speaking of another OnlyFans scene, which sees Cassie dress up as a dog, creator Sam Levinson told The Hollywood Reporter: "[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humour, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.
"What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion - the gag is to jump out, to break the wall."
Tyla has contacted HBO and Levinson's reps for comment.
