Why you’ll never see Zendaya in nude scenes in Euphoria

Euphoria is known for pushing the boundaries with X-rated sex scenes - but Zendaya's character Rue has avoided them completely

Euphoria fans are still breaking down the second episode of season three, which dropped onto HBO over the weekend.

And it featured a lot of graphic scenes and nudity.

Sydney Sweeney's Cassie got well and truly stuck into her OnlyFans career, with a full-frontal nude scene shocking viewers, while another graphic sex scene featuring Faye (Chloe Cherry) raised eyebrows.

But, while the TV show is known for not holding back when it comes to an X-rated scene, there is one character that you'll likely never see nude in the show - and that is Zendaya's Rue.

This is because, according to Evie Magazine, the actress allegedly has a 'no nudity' clause in place in her professional contracts, which means she never has to strip down for a character.

According to the publication, which cited TikToker @charlesperalo, the reason for this is partly down to the fact that Zendaya started her career as a Disney child star.

For context, she began her TV career as Rocky Blue on Shake It Up when she was only 14 years old, and there are rumours that this is why she's steered clear of anything too risqué as an adult.

In her 2024 steamy tennis romance, Challengers, viewers were left baffled when the raunchy scenes seemed to end before any of the characters got their kit off.

And it's a similar case for Euphoria - according to a 2023 article by LeisureByte, she's the only character on the show who's been fully clothed under all circumstances.

In the new series, which is set five years after the characters have left high school, we see Rue get flirtatious with Angel (Priscilla Delgado), a stripper who works at the club where she works.

Viewers watch the duo get into a car together, followed by an array of noises that let us know exactly what's going on, but we don't actually see anything, which is unusual for the show.

It's important to note, though, that although it makes sense as her characters do manage to avoid any nude scenes, the 'clause' hasn't actually been confirmed by Zendaya herself.

One actor who isn't afraid to bare all in the show is Sydney Sweeney, especially amid Cassie's ongoing OnlyFans storyline.

In 2022, in an interview with The Independent back in 2022, ahead of season two's release, Sweeney explained: "Sam [Levinson, the screenwriter] is amazing.

"There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless, and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it’.

"I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me."

She added that she's never felt uncomfortable while filming the show, where there’s always an intimacy coordinator on set.

Tyla has contacted a representative for Zendaya for comment.
