Warning: this article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 2

Stranger Things creators had to quietly edit out a mistake in the latest instalment of episodes after fans spotted a glaring historical error.

The sci-fi Netflix TV show set in the 1980s has been a firm favourite ever since the first series aired back in July 2016, becoming one of the platform's most-watched shows and building up a devoted fanbase in the process.

Now, no doubt viewers will be grieving as almost a decade later, it's finally coming to an end with the final ever episode set to air tonight (31 December).

Season four of Stranger Things came out all the way back in May and June 2022 so fans have had a while to wait for their next fix, when the first Volume of Season Five dropped in November, followed by Volume two on Boxing Day.

And Volume Three, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughin, Gaten Matarazzo and Sadie Sink, will wrap out everything that's played out in Hawkins so far.

But before we even have Volume Three, as we say, some fans have picked up on a costume error in Episode Seven, titled The Bridge.

After finally escaping the mind of the show's antagonist Vecna, who's played by Jamie Campbell-Bower, Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) finds herself trapped against one of his Pain Trees.

She eventually manages to punch and kick her way out, however, it wasn't the dramatic action of the scene that viewers picked up on, but instead what she was wearing.

Fans noticed the logo for sportswear company Under Armour on the sleeve of Holly’s left arm - what's wrong with this you may be asking?

Well, Under Armour was founded in 1996 and the show is meant to be set in the 1980s so viewers think it must have been a mistake.

And it looks like they were right as according to The Mirror, Netflix has since altered the sleeve so it's plain black.

But the quick response of course didn't stop fans from having their say online and pointing out the editing error on social media.

One Twitter user sarcastically user penned: "I love how Holly in Stranger Things is rocking @UnderArmour founded in 1996."

A second added: "Stranger things trying to “Mandela effect” us. They really went and edited out the UnderArmour logo on Holly’s shirt."

And a third wrote: "Wait a minute... Holly is wearing Under Armour in 1987?? Brand invented in 1996?? Duffers pulling a Game of Thrones Starbucks cup 2.0."

While a fourth chimed in with: "Holly wearing Under Armour in season five of @Stranger_Things is more unsettling than Vecna. Did she tear through the fabric of space and time and go into the future?! I’m mostly joking but need clarity."

And a fifth made sure to point out: "Just rewatching the last episode before the finale of Stranger Things, looks like they’ve fixed Holly’s under armour sleeve."

Stranger Thing's last episode will be released at 5pm PT/ 8pm ET, which is 1am British time on January 1.
