RHOSLC producers claim they had 'no idea' about Monica Garcia’s involvement in troll Instagram account

RHOSLC producers claim they had 'no idea' about Monica Garcia’s involvement in troll Instagram account

The Hayu star previously ran the gossip account @realityvontease2

We all know someone that just can't get enough of good old reality television.

If it's Geordie Shore, they remember the 'OG' Gaz and Charlotte days. If it's Keeping Up With The Kardashians, they were there when a 10-year-old Kylie Jenner danced on sister's Kim's newly-purchased stripper pole.

After all, is there anything better than watching the dramatic ins and outs of celebrity's lives unfold from the comfort of your own sofa?

It turns out, however, for one particularly well-loved US reality series, it is the goings on behind-the-scenes that are are more action-packed at the moment than what is aired on our TV screens.

That's because it has recently been discovered that Real Housewives of Salt Lake star Monica Garcia had previously used the 'troll' Instagram account to share gossip from the show.

Reality newbie Monica, 40, was outed by castmate Heather Gay, 49, during Tuesday’s (3 January) season 4 show-stopping finale.

Monica was found to have run an Instagram 'trolling' account.

American news outlet Entertainment Tonight was the first publication to report on the scandalous news after viewers of the show immediately took to social media to accuse producers of knowing Monica's dark secret.

Since then, producers of the show claimed to have had 'no idea' that Monica had been involved with the account prior to inviting her to star on the show.

As allegedly confirmed by Page Six, a production source told them: "Had they been aware prior to [the ladies’ vacation in] Bermuda, they would have never withheld that information from the core four.

"It was a shock to everyone, even Monica."

A second source is said to have told the publication: "Monica figured the information would come out eventually but she was hopeful that she could’ve gotten through her first season without anyone blowing her cover."

Heather Gay exposed Monica's antics on the show.

During the eagerly-anticipated finale last week - which aired on Hayu - Heather was seen taking Meredith Marks, Lisa Barlow and Whitney Rose to the side to break the news that Monica had been been trolling them.

She claimed that their co-star had also been trolling their former cast-mate Jen Shah, who is in prison.

"You guys, we’ve come a long way, us four. We have, and Monica is not who she says she is," Heather told her pals.

"She’s not our friend. She’s someone [who] has schemed and worked to infiltrate our friend group.”

"The name that you all know her as, the woman whose birthday we celebrated, who we’ve been trying to champion and support and defend, is Reality Von Tease.

"I’m freaking out," Meredith then replies. "I am so tired of people trying to hurt us. This is so f*****d up."

The 'troll' Gossip Girl-esque account gained attention by posting insider information about the cast back in 2022.

On the show, Heather grilled the anonymous social media user: "The real Monica is someone who really doesn’t want to be our friend, but wants to profit from our lives and our pain.

"I know who you really are, and who you really are is the cyberbully, internet troll Reality Von Tease."

Despite initially denying the accusation, Monica folded and admitted she and other unknown individuals ran the account.
