Enter what many have found to be their latest obsession: Netflix’s A Nearly Normal Family, which landed on the streamer a few days ago.

The drama follows one family’s fallout after a 19-year-old is accused of murdering her lover.

“The Sandells live a quiet life in an affluent suburb,” Netflix’s fan site Tudum explains.

“Ulrika is a busy lawyer, Adam is a priest, and their daughter, Stella, works in a bakery.

“Everything appears status quo — until Stella’s charged with the murder of the man she’s been seeing, who was killed after a night out.

“Now Stella’s in custody, and her parents are trying to keep it all together as the trial ensues.

“They want to help Stella at any cost, but how much do they really know about their daughter — or each other?”

Starring Lo Kauppi, Björn Bengtsson, and newcomer Alexandra Karlsson Tyrefors, the crime thriller is based on he bestselling book by M.T. Edvardsson.

Since being released on the streaming site, it has shot up to no. 2 in the UK Top 10, with many viewers saying it’s essential viewing.

One tweeted: “Just finished watching A Nearly Normal Family on Netflix, it was absolutely brilliant.”

Someone else said: “A Nearly Normal Family on Netflix is a must watch.”

A third gave it a ‘10/10’ rating, while a fourth added: “A Nearly Normal Family was such a good watch! Def recommend.”

Viewers are saying it's a 'must-watch'.

The drama takes place in and around Lund in Sweden, which not-so-incidentally is the same as its source material.

Author M.T. Edvardsson – who also serves as executive producer – told Tudum: “It has been important to me that it is filmed in Lund, where the book takes place.”

Director Per Hanefjord also added: “From the first encounter with this story, I have appreciated that it really has something at heart.

“It raises complex issues, offers depth of character, and all the while with engaging suspense.”
