Black Doves fans have been urged to watch another 'outstanding' thriller that 'keeps you on the edge of your seat'.

If you're anything like us, you've probably rattled through all six episodes of the Netflix series starring Pride and Prejudice's Keira Knightley, This Is Going To Hurt's Ben Whishaw and Happy Valley legend Sarah Lancashire. Check out the official trailer here:

Black Doves - dubbed by Netflix's social media as their early 'Christmas present' to us - is set in London during the festive season with the Love Actually star Knightley taking on the role of a mother-of-one named Helen, who also works as a professional spy.

Helen has spent the last decade passing on the secrets told by her politician husband (Buchan) to a mysterious organisation known as the Black Doves.

It isn't just her elusive profession that she's kept away from her family, however, but a secret lover named Jason (Andrew Koji).

When her secret beau is tragically assassinated, her hard-faced boss named Reed (Lancashire) calls in one of Helen's oldest pals, Sam (Whishaw) - who is also an assassin or 'triggerman' - to help keep her identity protected.

Whilst setting out to find out who murdered her lover and why, the pair inadvertently discover a colossal conspiracy linking London's criminal underworld to the political minds running the country.

It didn't take long for the series to climb to the prestigious 'No. 1 in TV Programmes Today' slot on the streamer given its near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

But, for everyone's who has already watched it, it's clear we're itching for our next fix of a proper good gritty spy thriller. And that, my friends, is none other than Paramount's The Agency.

The five-part drama, which stars Jodie Turner-Smith, Michael Fassbender, RichardGere and Jeffrey Wright, came out at the start of this month (1 December) and follows a covert CIA agent who is ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station.

It's here when the love he left behind reappears with a fiery romance reigniting once again.

Fans of both programmes have since rushed to social media to share their praise with one X user writing: "#BlackDoves. Some good tough scenes and action, and a fun Christmas atmosphere.

"It swims in the goofier end of the spy pool than The Agency: too much hitman poetry, repartee while shooting, etc. Love Keira Knightly, and two party girl hitwoman (Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy)."

"Black Doves is a bit of fun," quipped a second. "It is certainly faster paced and takes itself less seriously than The Agency. Worth a look."

A third penned: "The Agency, Lioness and Black Doves. Great time for espionage lovers."

"The Agency on Paramount+ starring #RichardGere, #MichaelFassbender, #JeffreyWright, #JodieTurner-Smith, and a huge group of other amazing characters is outstanding," beamed a fourth.

A fifth fan of The Agency chirped: "So far this is a great series. It's intriguing, fast moving & will keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more."

"This is epic television," gushed a sixth. "Amazing acting, tight compelling writing and incredible cinematography, keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

"This is one of the best CIA/espionage TV shows that has been done in a long time. Seriously, Jeffrey Wright and Michael Fassbender in the same room. It does not get better than that."

And a final fan echoed: "Excellent show with terrific acting!"

Well, that's this week's evening telly plans sorted.
