MAFS UK star Alex breaks silence on 'what's going on with Holly' following controversial episode

Channel 4 viewers have branded Holly a 'bully' following last night's explosive reunion episode

Married At First Sight UK star Alex has issued a statement on 'what's going on with Holly' following last night's episode of the hit reality show.

Channel 4 viewers watched on as remaining brides, Polly, Sacha, Lacey and Amy, were enjoying some bubbly before the surprise reunion which saw some very familiar faces making a comeback.

Holly, who dramatically left the experiment after a fall out with her hubby Alex, was greeted with a warm welcome but it's clear that returning bride, Hannah, wasn't met with the same reception.

After seeing Hannah, Holly quipped: " "Oh, look what the cat has dragged in."

Referencing the whole wife-swap 'cheating' drama, she later asked: "How many husbands have you run off with since you've left the experiment?"

People have since branded Holly a 'bully' for the way she treated Hannah with many taking to social media to slam the reality TV star which has since prompted former groom Alex, after they appeared to make up following their departure from the show, to issue a statement defending her.

Taking to Instagram earlier this morning, Alex shared a series of snaps of him and Holly alongside a lengthy caption about what's been 'going on' with her.

He began: "Hi guys, I just wanted to address what’s been going on with Holly.

"Please understand that we are all human and we on the show have been through a crazy and very unique process that not many people will understand."

Alex explained to MAFS UK fans that there was 'hours and hours' of filming 'condensed into a short episode', adding: "Things can be manipulated to paint a narrative and stir waters so the public will talk."

Alex continued: "Controversy sells, as we all know very well now.

"So all I ask in defence of Holly and the entire cast is that you please give us some grace and understanding and try to be kind and acknowledge that your comments and trolling can really affect people.

Holly has also taken to Instagram to share a statement regarding her on-screen behaviour ahead of the episode, writing on her story: "Before tonight's episode airs I just want to release a statement to say I stand on absolutely everything I say due to being disrespected so many times of camera.

"I was pushed to a point that I could no longer take someone acting the victim after constantly making messy mistakes. I take accountability when I say 'look what the cat dragged in' that's a mean girl comment but my other behaviours I take full accountability and own everything."

She carried on: "I gelled so well with every single girl as I do anyone I meet, but I was constantly tapped away at and wasn't putting up with it anymore, personal comments were made towards myself and also things of camera were said to my husband.

"So before you jump with the 'bully' word. I'm sure a lot of you would react the same way if you was put in my position."

Married at First Sight UK airs every Monday to Thursday at 9.00pm on E4.
