Bride sparks outrage after snubbing husband at the altar over ‘cruel’ reason

The new series of Married At First Sight UK has started with a bang

It's that time of year again - Married at First UK is back on our screens with a fresh batch of brides and grooms.

For those unfamiliar with the Channel 4 experiment, the reality TV show sees hopeful singles tie the knot with strangers, meeting them for the very first time at the end of the aisle.

They go into the process completely blind and don't know anything about the person they're getting married to until their wedding day.

The new series kicked off yesterday (21 September) and the drama is already well underway, with one bride's reaction being far from love at first sight.

One of the first couples to appear on the programme were 31-year-old recruitment consultant Sarah, who the experts matched with team building host Dean, also 31.

After getting a first glimpse of his wife-to-be, Dean said in a confessional: "She's smiling, she's looking at me and I think this is the woman for me. It's started off good, the personality's there. I hope she's feeling the same."

However, in her own confessional, Sarah's first impression of her future husband was pretty brutal.

"No, I don't fancy Dean," she said, "I'm sorry."

Sarah added: "Dean is such a lovely guy but I'm gonna be completely honest, I don't wanna rip his clothes off."

Meanwhile, Sarah's friend Caitlin also said during the MAFS UK episode: "Looks are very important to Sarah and he is definitely not Sarah's type."

And if it already wasn't going well, Dean decided to rap a song for his new wife while they were still down the aisle.

He awkwardly sang: "When I saw you in that dress today, you did more than take my breath away. All my fears alleviate, I know we're gonna be okay. I know we'll have hard times, it's true, but I'll never ever give up on you.

"You and me, plain to see, to the end of time, hopefully. Everybody sing with me. When I say wed, you say D."

Reflecting on the impromptu moment, Sarah later said to the camera: "I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. The rap is not something I envisioned, I have to say."

Understandably, viewers have rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the pairing - and a lot of people are disappointed that the couples are 'fixating on looks'.

One Twitter user wrote: "MAFS p***es me off every year cause why are they so fixated on looks. If you’re that bothered find a man yourself #MAFSUK."

While a second added: "Sarah “my usual type isn’t working I want something different, a nice guy, looks don’t matter” Experts “here’s dean” Sarah…. #MAFSUK."

And a third agreed: "When I catch Sarah’s friends for looking at Dean with disgust on their faces #MAFSUK."

"Why are they acting like Deans an ogre at the end of the aisle #MAFSUK," added a fourth.

With a fifth penning: "I know it happens every year but Sarah has a terrible attitude for someone who’s only on this show because they’re sick of how they repeatedly go for bad boys #MAFSUK."
