Emerald Fennell's movie adaption of Wuthering Heights has already caused quite a stir in the world of entertainment.

In case you missed it, the film, which has been described as a 'scandalous and intoxicating' take on Emily Brontë's classic 1847 novel, is set to be released around the globe just in time for Valentine's Day.

Jacob Elordi, 28, is starring alongside, Margot Robbie, 35, as Heathcliff and Cathy - and fans have questions.

From the surprising choice of Charli XCX for the soundtrack to the confusing period attire and costumes, the controversy surrounding casting and that finger sucking scene, we have a feeling this is gonna be a 'love it or hate it' kind of movie.

Last week, following the trailer's release, fans were given a glimpse into what they can expect and were treated to a sneak peek scene which included dialogue.

Only a minute long, the clip in question showed Cathy and Heathcliff having a conversation about money while sitting in the picturesque Yorkshire moors.

But, with Robbie and Elordi both hailing from Australia, viewers were excited to see their British, more specifically, Yorkshire accents, which is where the book is set.

Both characters are supposed to be from Yorkshire but it seems that only Elordi has given the Northern accent a go - Robbie spoke in a more general British accent.

Some fans are absolutely obsessed with the Saltburn actor's accent and to be honest, think he's absolutely nailed it, while others hilariously simply can't get over hearing it come out of his mouth.

Taking to social media to debrief, one Twitter user penned: "Jacob Elordi’s northern accent has finished me off hahahaha," while a second added: "I would like to appreciate Jacob Elordi at least trying a Yorkshire accent, dunno what the f*** Margot is doing."

A third mused: "Would absolutely love to be a fly in the room when the chat went down about accents. Margot said she can only do English English if that's alright. Jacob said he can whisper and softly speak a Noel Gallagher impression. And someone said yeah."

While a fourth questioned: "I know nothing about Wuthering Heights apart from what I've seen on social media in the past year (and when it was mentioned on Friends), so forgive my ignorance: What is going on with Jacob's accent?"

A fifth chimed in with: "First and foremost i have to say that i'm so upset that emerald fennell did what she did to wuthering heights (i cant talk about it too much or i'll die)... HOWEVER!!! Jacob Elordi nailed the Yorkshire accent."

And others joked: "Jacob Elordi speaking with a Yorkshire accent is sooo" and "Jacob elordi's attempt at what i think is meant to be a scouse accent what do we think".

"Did not go into this expecting Jacob Elordi's accent to be the only good quality," admitted someone else.

While other movie fans joked: "Babe wake up they have Jacob Elordi doing a hull accent" and "Hearing that accent come out of Jacob Elordi is genuinely disconcerting."
