Strict I'm A Celeb rule that leaves contestants 'smuggling' the same item into camp

ITV producers have been known to punish contestants who disobey the rules

One uber-strict rule I'm A Celeb stars have to adhere to often sees them feeling the need to smuggle certain items into camp.

So much so that countless campmates have been reprimanded by ITV producers in the past for disobeying this one restriction - sometimes by handing over their contraband item, and sometimes by sacrificing an evening meal.

IAC rules are somewhat of a hot topic at the moment.

Earlier this week, fans were left baffled after noticing three of this year's stars - N-Dubz's Tulisa, Loose Women panellist Jane Moore and much-loved WAG Coleen Rooney - seemingly donning full faces of make-up.

In years prior, however, campmates caught with any belongings that didn't fall under the umbrella of their 'one chosen luxury item' were severely punished.

Remember when Amy Willerton managed to smuggle in an entire make-up bag back in 2013, before being forced to hand it over? Talk about iconic.

Viewers have also been left worrying for the fate of Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough this week, after he was been spotted confessing to his co-stars about having tea bags in his possession.

Of all the regulations inflicted upon stars, however, there's one which contestants reportedly dread year after year as it centres on their uniform limitations.

And according to reports, it's actually one of the most commonly-broken rules.

Apparently, contestants are only permitted to take three pairs of undergarments into the jungle with them.

This explains why viewers see the stars scrubbing their knickers and undies in the camp creek each day.

If they forget to wash a pair, however, and their other two are currently not fit for purpose, they're forced to go commando.

Naturally, therefore, so as not to go full-on survivalist, some stars have tried their hands in the past of disobeying restrictions.

Among the celebs to go down in history for smuggling an extra set of kecks into their luggage are former Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard and EastEnders actress Rita Simmons.

The latter - who was caught sneaking in both a pack of chewing gum and a lighter - previously told This Morning viewers: "I smuggled in extra knickers.

"You’re allowed three pairs of knickers… Three pairs. I smuggled more."

Though the official celebrity uniform is rather simple - consisting of khaki shorts, a matching shirt with their names written on the back, a couple of white vest tops, some bright red t-shirts and matching burgundy socks - contestants have recently been afforded the opportunity to jazz up their kit in any way they see fit.

An example of someone who took this allowance to the extreme was musician Boy George who, back in 2022, attached red felt spots to his shirt and customised his hat to resemble a crown.

And looking back, it was pretty iconic.
