Love Is Blind UK star Ryan addresses awkward mango moment in latest episode

The third season of Love Is Blind UK has officially come to a dramatic end - and Ryan has addressed that viral mango moment.

For those who are unfamiliar, the Netflix dating show hosted by real-life husband and wife Emma and Matt Willis sees singletons meet, date, and get engaged before they meet in person.

In this series, Sophie and Taylor, Ciara and Ajay, Faye and Jack, and Francesca and Joseph made it to the aisle, while Cuba and Ryan and Yasmin and Jordan sadly called it quits.

Cuba admitted she felt lonely during the relationship and was worried Ryan’s heart wasn’t in it, due to him spending a lot of time away because of work.

They ultimately ended things a week before the planned nuptials, as Ryan told the cameras: “I don’t want to hurt Cuba, but I have to tell my truth. My body’s resisting and stopping, and I just have to trust in my body.”

However, Ryan’s break-up etiquette has been raising eyebrows, as directly after suggesting he and Cuba don’t continue their romance, he started eating a mango and asked her if she wanted some.

Fans immediately rushed to social media to react, with one writing: “Lol he dumped her and offered her a mango #LoveIsBlindUK.”

A second quipped: “Ryan busy eating that mango whilst Cuba is bawling her eyes out on the side. I hate that man pls #LoveIsBlindUK.”

And a third wrote: “WOW, if my fiancé ends our engagement for bs reasons and then asks me if I want mango, I am THROWING HANDS!! #LIBUK #LoveIsBlindUK.”

“That mango bit would’ve actually finished me #LoveIsBlindUK,” joked a fourth, while a fifth brutally added: “Ryan is kind of psychotic for eating a mango after he just dumped his fiancé. Nasty #loveisblinduk.”

Ryan has since spoken out on the moment and claimed that ‘people create their whole view and perception of every cast member based off what they see’.

He said in a video shared to his Instagram profile on Wednesday (26 August): “Obviously it's the day the experiment finished for Cuba and I, and a long conversation, and the whole day is condensed down into such a short, sharp focus on fruit.”

Addressing his absence during the show, he said: "I want to say first of all that it must've been super hard for Cuba to have had me away for so much of the experiment," and explained he had work obligations and a family bereavement off screen that caused him to take time away from the camera.

He added: "You can't help those timings. So it was a very sticky situation to be in for both of us, and it wasn't fair on something that was hard to watch back.”

Ryan claimed that what we saw on screen was ‘less than one per cent’ of the filmed footage and then went into details of why he chose to break off the engagement.

He said: "I knew something's not right, I think anyone can agree as you're getting closer to the day of your wedding, you should be getting more and more and more excited, and not feeling more and more and more resistant when it's hard to figure out why.

"Unfortunately, the nature of human experiments is that some of them work and some of them don't. For our relationship, it clearly didn't. It is true that I did leave and I did what was right by how I was feeling."

He urged: "I appreciated that is very tough at the time, and afterwards for Cuba as well. But you have to honour what's going on for yourself and your circumstances at the same time, and your obligations.”

Ryan also said it was a ‘shame as there were so many beautiful parts of our relationship that they never showed, and that doesn't make the cut".

He continued: "That's quite an interesting thing, because people create their whole view and perception of every cast member based off what they see, and that is designed to elicit certain emotions and feelings in people to keep them engaged.

"I actually find that part quite fascinating and scary at the same time. So I think that part's a shame, but there we go."
