If you know all the Grey’s Anatomy dialogue by heart but are looking for a similarly messy medical drama, Netflix has the answer.

The streamer has just added a hospital drama that won’t make you miss Meredith Grey and the Sloan Grey memorial team one bit.

Spanish series Breathless (original title: Respira) is set in the Joaquín Sorolla public hospital in Valencia and tells the professional and personal stories of the doctors and nurses working there.

Created by Carlos Montero, known for being behind hit Netflix show Élite as well as teen drama Física o Química, Breathless revolves around a big strike announced to protest cuts to the public health system, with staff questioning their own loyalty to the greater good.

The cast features a number of Spanish stars you might’ve seen in other series and movies.

The eight-episode first season stars Money Heist and Berlin’s Najwa Nimri as Patricia Segura, the president of the Valencian government who becomes a patient at the Joaquín Sorolla. Élite star Manu Ríos plays co-protagonist Biel de Felipe, a dedicated, passionate doctor who is unsure about whether to join the strike and is the first to visit Segura.

Rounding out the ensemble are Aitana Sánchez Gijón (Madres paralelas, La Regenta), Blanca Suárez (Las chicas del cable, Jaguar), Borja Luna (Cristo y Rey, Sin huellas) and Alfonso Bassave (Estoy vivo, Antidisturbios), with Ana Rayo, Macarena de Rueda, Blanca Martínez, Abril Zamora, Xoán Fórneas, Marwa Bakhat and Víctor Sáinz appearing in supporting roles.

Judging by the trailer, the show also has a steamy component, following the love and sex lives of the hospital staff, something that Grey’s Anatomy has been doing since it premiered in 2005.

As the Shonda Rhimes-produced show is about to debut its 21st season on September 26, fans can ease the wait binging Breathless.

Some are comparing the two medical dramas and calling on Netflix to officially greenlight the Spanish series for a second instalment.

"Everyone should watch breathless on netflix," one person wrote on Twitter/X, while another noted: "if you're looking for Grey’s type show… recommend Breathless a Spanish series on Netflix".

Someone else seemed very invested in one of the show’s love triangles, begging the streamer to order another season after the first ended on a huge cliffhanger.

I finished Netflix Breathless, I just hope there is season 2 because Jessica cannot die, her triangle ship is the reason I like the show...she better be alive to be messy, she brings the drama...I want more, but Jessica's bf is everywhere helping everybody but never there for her pic.twitter.com/MbbmpQ9ILa
