Euphoria season three has been making headlines for its wild sex scenes and NSFW moments - most of which involve Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie as she kickstarts her OnlyFans career.

The HBO TV show, which returned last month after a four-year hiatus, hasn’t been holding back with its controversial and boundary-pushing storylines, including the exploration of a variety of different bedroom trends and kinks.

One fan joked on X: "Which new Sam Levinson fetish will be revealed tonight? #euphoria,” while another pleaded: “Can Euphoria not be gross, objectifying women, or make everything kink related for like one episode plz.”

A third wrote: “Euphoria is just trying to cover as many kinks as possible. There’s no storyline anymore. Just OnlyFans, drugs, and sugar daddies.”

While a fourth added: "8 minutes in of this week's Euphoria episode and I can name you at least 6 kinks and fetishes."

From macrophilia to pup play, there’s a whole lot of little-known buzzwords being thrown around as the episodes continue to air.

So, without further ado, here are the main sex trends we've seen so far...

Macrophilia

Macrophilia or a ‘giantess fetish’ is the latest little-known kink that’s been dominating social media ever since Cassie’s controversial ‘Godzilla’ scene aired on Sunday (10 May).

In what’s arguably become the most-talked-about moment of the season, we see Cassie turn into a giantess who terrorises LA, knocking helicopters down with her ponytail.

She finds a man masturbating in his office over her OnlyFans content, and then, after he licks the glass, she proceeds to press her bare breasts against the windows to smash them.

When watching this bizarre scene, one viewer wrote: “Cassie doing giantess content in Euphoria was not on my bingo card.”

To explain, macrophilia is a kink where people have sexual fantasies about giant people, giants, and giantesses, or an extreme size difference.

Sex therapist Courtney Boyer told Metro that it's 'a fetish that often lives in animated, sci-fi, or surreal storytelling spaces where physical limits don’t apply'.

She explained: "Giantess fantasies tend to fixate on a permanently large female figure and the power dynamic that comes with that, while growth eroticises the change.

"It’s primarily imagination-led. Think consensual roleplay, guided dirty talk, camera perspective play (making someone appear larger than they are), or animation. It’s less about the physical reality and more about immersing yourself in a shared fantasy."

Mummification

In episode three, we saw Jules (Hunter Schafer) take part in the eerie mummification sex trend with her sugar daddy, Ellis (Sam Trammel).

They go back to her swanky high-rise apartment, where the star goes completely topless, wearing nothing but underwear and heels.

Creepy plastic surgeon Ellis then proceeds to cover her entire body and face in cling film to the point where it looks like she can’t breathe, and stares at her for a moment, before saying: "I just might keep you forever."

Yep, that one definitely sent shivers down the spine. But it’s actually a real kink - a form of bondage to be specific.

It sees a person be consensually wrapped up like a mummy in cling film, duct tape or bandages, etc. in order to restrict their movement.

Dominatrix Melissa Todd told LADBible: “You want to be out of control and it's a kind of bondage that you do without any sort of pain really. You know, [the sub who is mummified is] literally tucked away and you can't wriggle a single inch.”

Sploshing

Now, back to Cassie again, if you cast your mind back to episode two, one of the first sex trends she tried out when starting her adult content career was sploshing.

In one scene, Sweeney’s character went completely topless while holding a melting ice cream, letting it drip down her body and onto her breasts.

Sploshing is a fetish that revolves around wet substances, often foods, being messily sprayed, poured, splashed, or smeared onto someone.

According to Metro, its alternative name is actually WAM (wet and messy).

Sex psychotherapist Gigi Engle for SexToys.co.uk, told the publication: “Dripping chocolate over somebody is very popular and the other popular thing is filling a bath with jelly and getting in it and feeling the squishiness.

“The most common substances are jelly, shaving cream, cakes, icing and batter but people will find different foods based on their preferences.”

Age play

The most controversial moment of Cassie’s OnlyFans career so far is for sure her ‘age play’ content.

One Euphoria montage showed the character filming X-rated content with her legs spread apart, her hair in two pigtail bunches, wearing a sheer top, and sucking on a dummy.

It immediately garnered backlash for 'sexualising children' and 'crossing a line', with real life adult content creators also calling out the show for including it.

OnlyFans star Megan Prescott told Mashable: "We've just had someone write a show about their fantasy of a type of sex work, and in doing that, the general public will be like, 'Oh my god. On OnlyFans, you can dress up as a baby. That's disgusting,' which is just not accurate."

For context, OnlyFans' Acceptable Use Policy prohibits any 'illegal activity, including actual, claimed, or role-played: exploitation, abuse, or harm of individuals under the age of 18'.

Meanwhile, sex therapist Dr. Nazanin Moali explained to Mashable that age-play, which is a real kink, ‘is a type of a consensual adult role play in which individuals experiment with being in a different age/role than their current developmental phase’.

Pup play

In the same episode, we also saw Cassie dress up as a dog and engage in the ‘pup play’ fetish.

She sported a tight-fitting brown thong bodysuit, complete with ears, a collar, a lead, and a drawn-on nose as she filmed for her OnlyFans page.

Cassie crawls around on all fours, barks, picks up a shoe in her mouth, and even has her own kennel with her name on.

As outlined by LGBTQ+ outlet Them, Pup play is a subset of BDSM that’s popular in the gay leather community and involves roleplaying as a pup, sometimes in a group of other pups.

The publication says: "This process is all about tapping into your primal self as a pup and engaging in an authentic type of play.

“Think rolling around on the ground, playing fetch, and generally releasing the stress of human existence in exchange for the euphoria and full-body experience of being a pup."

Sometimes it involves another person taking on the role of the ‘handler or trainer,’ bringing in a power dynamic.

ASMR

While, on its own, ASMR isn’t a sexual fetish, it’s certainly been utilised in that way for Cassie.

In the latest episode, we saw the character rub her cleavage on the microphone, before putting it down there, and asking: "Do you want to hear my p***y?"

She also delves into whisper-based recordings, saying her subscribers' names and bizarrely, reading out nursery rhymes, hence the title of the episode ‘This Little Piggy’.

For context, ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which describes a feeling some people experience when watching or listening to a specific trigger.

It’s generally not sexual but is mainly used to help with sleep, stress relief, and anxiety reduction; however, as we can see in Euphoria, some people clearly enjoy it for, ahem, other reasons.
