Body language expert reveals how Ellen Degeneres really felt when Dakota Johnson called her out in infamous interview

We all remember the interview, don't we?

A body language expert has weighed in on that interview between Ellen DeGeneres and Dakota Johnson.

Cast your minds back to 2019; Harry and Meghan welcomed Archie into the world, Ariana Grande gave us thank u, next, Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save the world in Avengers: Endgame.

What else of note happened that year?

Well, Dakota Johnson called out Ellen DeGeneres on her own show in the most savage way and won the hearts on everyone online, of course.

Just in case you need reminding, the Fifty Shades of Grey star was invited as a guest on the former talk show on the eve of Thanksgiving.

Having recently just turned 30, the conversation turned to how Johnson celebrated it and whether or not she enjoyed the party she had in celebration.

"How was the party? I wasn't invited," DeGeneres claimed, but without missing a beat, Johnson replied: "Actually, that's not the truth Ellen, you were invited.

"Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of sh*t about not inviting you, but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited."

Chill Dakota, it's a holiday. But the conversation didn't end there.

As the host clapped back with 'who wouldn't want to be invited to a party,' The Materialists star said: "I didn't even think you liked me."

Ouch.

After DeGeneres fumbled to convince the actress that she was very much mistaken and did, in fact, like her, Johnson let her know she was invited to the birthday bash but that she simply didn't show up.

“Ask everybody. Ask Jonathan, your producer,” Johnson went on.

As awkward (and hilarious) as the interview was, an expert has now weighed in on how DeGeneres - who recently moved the UK - actually felt about the situation.

Cosmopolitan got body language expert Blanca Cobb to break down the interview, and the discomfort DeGeneres felt was as obvious as it was cringe.

“So the right leg is crossed over her left leg, and that leg, the way she has it, serves like a barrier between her and Dakota,” Cobb explained. “So it’s like a psychological barrier as well as a physical barrier.”

As the conversation unbearably continued, Cobb noted something else revealing which saw DeGeneres 'rubbing her fingers either on the armrest or on the leg,' which indicates she was 'self-soothing.'

I'm sure Johnson got over the host's absence, as her party in Malibu was reported to have boyfriend Chris Martin, his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus, Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jr., and her mother, Melanie Griffith.

DeGeneres has since left the US after stepping down from her show amidst allegations of a toxic work environment.

She has since moved to the UK with her wife, Portia de Rossi, and the couple is reportedly shacked up somewhere in the Cotswolds.
