Ellen DeGeneres had one of the most uncomfortable moments in TV history when Dakota Johnson called her out live on air

Ellen DeGeneres had one of the most uncomfortable moments in TV history when Dakota Johnson called her out live on air

Dakota Johnson had some strong words for Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres suffered an incredibly awkward moment after Dakota Johnson called her out as a guest on her show.

In the nearly-20-years that The Ellen DeGeneres Show ran for, there were a lot of tears, laughs, and of course, a fair few awkward moments.

However, nothing quite compares to the historically awkward clip that was born when Dakota Johnson was a guest on the show.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star appeared on the talk show in 2019, after she had just turned 30.

Discussing her birthday, Ellen accused Dakota of not receiving in an invite to her party.

Dakota quickly cleared things up for viewers.

Putting the host in her place, she said: "Actually, no, that’s not the truth, Ellen, you were invited."

The star added: "No, last time I was on the show, last year, you gave me a bunch of s**t about not inviting you, but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited."

Ellen responded: "Well, who wouldn’t want to be invited to a party?"

Dakota said she wasn't aware that the host 'liked' her, to which Ellen said she wouldn't have her on the show if she wasn't a fan.

After an extremely awkward back and forth, Dakota insisted: "But I did invite you, and you didn’t come."

She even confirmed with producers that the invite was received.

Slightly lost for words, Ellen said: "Oh yeah, I had that thing."

Awkward!!

Naturally, viewers flooded to X to give their opinions on the moment.

One said: "Dakota really clowned Ellen at her own show."

The show ended in 2022 after 19 seasons, much to the disappointment of a large number of fans.

During her final monologue to camera, Ellen said: "If this show has made you smile, if it has lifted you up when you’re in a period of some type of pain, some type of sadness, anything you are going through, then I have done my job.

"This show has forever changed my life. It is the greatest experience I have ever had, beyond my wildest imagination."

The former host recently swapped Hollywood life for the English countryside.

She was spotted in Jeremy Clarkson's pub with her wife Portia de Rossi, singer Natalie Imbruglia, and Clarkson's wife Lisa Hogan.

Ellen and Portia have reportedly bought a house in the Cotswolds.

A source told the Independent: "She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after.”
