Between steamy Bridgerton and drama-filled Love Island - I'm sure many of us are eager to sink our teeth into something with a little more grit.

Well, if that sounds like a bit of you, you'll be happy to know that prayers have now been answered as a brand-new documentary about one of the most horrific cult massacres in history has just dropped.

It was released on streaming platforms, Hulu and Disney+, only a few days back on Monday (17 June) ad viewers were quick to rattle through all three episodes of the mini-series and are now praising the 'utterly disturbing' documentary based on a harrowing true-crime story.

The doc is all about the horrific Jonestown Massacre, which saw nearly 1,000 people follow cult leader Reverend Jim Jones to their death.

On November 18, 1978, over 900 Americans tragically died in a Guyanan jungle after ingesting a cyanide-laced fruit drink under the command of their leader.

It is widely accepted as one of the largest mass deaths in all of American history, resulting in a chilling 918 deaths in total.

The docu-series uses a mix of archival footage from the time and interviews from survivors to discuss their traumatising experiences - something that's clearly resonated with audiences.

If you hadn't already guessed, the series is none other than Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown. Check out the official trailer here:

One X user penned: "I knew about Jonestown, but I did not have a lot of the details about what happened. So, the new Hulu doc, Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown, was really illuminating - and utterly disturbing.

"Features interviews with survivors (including media and followers) + archival footage."

A second gushed: "Riveting, terrifying CULT MASSACRE: ONE DAY IN JONESTOWN by Marian Mohamed demands to be seen. I never fully grasped the Jim Jones tragedy until now."

"This is all archival footage, much of it taken by members of the People's Temple and never seen before. Just prepare yourself, it's unrelenting," warned a third.

Another quipped: "Idk if anyone else is a lowkey documentary-nerd like I am but…… This #CultMassacre is hellaaaa wild.

"Like listening to the survivors.. and his son.. and this FOOTAGE. I remember hearing/reading this Jonestown-cult-stuff but I NEVERRRRRRRR knew it was THIS wild."

And a final X user added: "One thing about me, I’m going to find a good documentary. That Cult Massacre doc on Hulu is insane..."

Well, I know what I'm watching tonight.
