The world is still reeling from Bad Bunny's history-making Super Bowl halftime show, with fans gushing over the iconic performance and picking out details - including what was written on the American football he clutched at the end of the show.

The Puerto Rican rapper, 31, took to the stage at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday (8 February), where he treated viewers to an incredible 13-minute set, which was performed almost entirely in Spanish.

After becoming first artist to win Album of the Year with a fully Spanish-language album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, at the Grammys earlier this month, the musician performed a medley of his biggest hits, including 'Tití Me Preguntó,' 'MONACO' and 'BAILE INoLVIDABLE'.

He also made sure to slide in a number of Easter eggs and references to Puerto Rican culture, as well as make a defiant political statement. It wasn't explicit, but it was still impactful.

One standout moment during the performance saw the rapper say: "God bless America", before he went on to list nations of Central, South and North America as dancers carried their flags.

Behind them, a billboard message read: "The only thing more powerful than hate is love."

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, held a football at the end of the segment which read in English: "Together, We Are America."

It comes amid the ongoing political tensions in America as US president Donald Trump's immigration crackdown continues.

The 79-year-old world leader ordered a 'complete restoration of America' as he returned to the White House last year, months before instructing ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officials to remove 'illegal aliens' from the country.

Fans of Bad Bunny will know that he has strongly criticised ICE, calling out the government agency during his Grammys acceptance speech and refusing to tour the US last year over fears of fans being targeted.

Reacting to his powerful Super Bowl message, fans flocked to social media to praise the musician for taking a stance in front of a global audience.

One Reddit user wrote: "It’s a sad time in the United States that these statements are controversial. This was a lovely show. Much needed."

While a second gushed: "I’m so proud of my little island tonight and our entire Latin American community. Seeing Bad Bunny recreate a slice of our culture on the stage for millions of people to see and enjoy feels so special to me."

And a third chimed in with: "This show is what we needed right now considering the situation and the political decision of this country. Thank you. We needed this SO bad."

"Imagine hatin on someone and THIS is their message?! Weird people out there fr! Bravo Benito," applauded a fourth.

More than 120 million tuned in to watch the performance, while Thursday’s Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Press Conference with the rapper also became the most-watched in Super Bowl history.
