Bad Bunny has revealed the emotional significance behind his Super Bowl halftime show outfit - and it's a tear-jerker.

For those who missed it, the Puerto Rican rapper, 31, took to the stage at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday (8 February) for the Super Bowl LX halftime show. He performed a show-stopping 13-minute set, which broke records as it was performed almost entirely in Spanish.

The musician, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, treated fans to a medley of his biggest hits, including 'MONACO,' 'BAILE INoLVIDABLE' and 'Tití Me Preguntó'.

From set designs to accessories, Bad Bunny made sure to include a slew of Easter eggs and references paying homage to Puerto Rican culture.

But his outfit had a heartbreaking story of its own, as it was subtly paying tribute to his late uncle.

The rapper wore an all-white look from Zara, comprised of a collared shirt and tie, a sport-style jersey with the name Ocasio and number 64 on the back, paired with chinos and trainers.

While Osacio is self-explanatory as it's Bad Bunny's last name, fans have been speculated what the number 64 could mean.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, the star explained: "1964 is the year my Tio Cutito was born. He is my mother's brother. Everything that I know about the NFL is thanks to him."

He recalled that when his uncle was 17, he left to work in the United States and he never returned to Puerto Rico, although he would always came to visit and stay with the family at the end of January and start of February.

"That was peak NFL post-season so I always watched the games with him. He was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and their home stadium is where the Super Bowl took place this year," the rapper recalled.

He told the publication: "He died two years ago, a short time after the 49ers lost against Kansas City in the 2024 Super Bowl."

The musician said he always 'dreamed 'of taking his uncle to a Super Bowl but he couldn't, as 'his death was sudden and without warning'.

"So I decided to bring him on my shirt when I performed at the Super Bowl: OCASIO, his last name, the same as my mom, along with his birth year 64," the rapper recalled, "I dedicated my show before I began; I am sure he saw it, he was present, and he felt proud of his nephew. Now all we need is for the 49ers to one day win the Super Bowl again."

Reacting to the emotional admission, one fan wrote on Twitter: "Craziest part is how a 13‑minute performance can hold years of memories. you never really know what someone’s carrying on that stage."

While a second added: "That's actually beautiful. honoring his uncle on the biggest stage while the whole world watches is powerful. The 49ers shade at the end is perfect too. family first then roasting your team is exactly the energy needed."

And a third agreed: "That makes it even more special. Not just a performance, but a beautiful tribute filled with love and respect. Real emotion, real legacy."
