Love Island UK stars left questioning Tommy after revelation about ‘secret girlfriend’ comes to light

Love Island UK star Tommy Stagg found himself in an awkward position as he faced questions about a 'secret girlfriend'.

Tommy is coupled up with Yasmin Hadlow, and the pair have been pretty smooth sailing so far... until last night.

On Thursday's episode of Love Island (July 24) viewers were delighted to see Maya Jama returning to the villa to well and truly put the cat amongst the pigeons with the lovebirds.

Casa Amor bombshell Tommy had even been declaring 'I love you' to Yasmin until he found himself in hot water over rumours about a girl on the outside.

Maya introduced a brand new couples challenge, which saw the Islanders answering questions in a fake podcast studio (could it be any more 2026!?)

The couples found themselves facing some seriously tricky questions from viewers at home.

Tommy was asked: "Is it true that Tommy has a girlfriend waiting for him on the outside?"

Awkward!

The rumours of a girl at home allegedly came from Tyrique Hyde's live stream.

During it, one of Lorenzo Alessi's friends made a shocking claim: "He had a girlfriend up until a few weeks before he went in the villa."

To give Tommy credit where it's due, he didn't shy away from Maya's question, and confessed he had broken up with a girlfriend just weeks before he went on the show.

Yasmin said Tommy had mentioned a relationship ending, but didn't know it was as recent as two weeks before the villa.

Nobody wants to be a rebound, do they...

He responded: "I was previously in a relationship with someone. I said, yeah I told her I was basically doing this and yeah, we left it sweet basically."

When pushed for a more detailed timeline, he clarified: "I would say like, it was quite recent, but like we'd split up maybe a few weeks before and then after I said that this, after finding out certain things, this is what I wanted to do."

This wasn't just a casual relationship either, it seems, after Maya asked how long he'd been seeing the girl for and he confessed: "I would say it was about nine or 10 months, just under a year."

Yasmine said: "No, to be fair you have told me that you came out of a relationship quite quickly, like before coming in this. So I was aware of this."

Jasmine later told Kavan: "Apparently he broke up with his ex like two weeks before he came in here, and Yas just found out."

Fans didn't take too kindly to his answers.

"Does Tommy know he was rumoured from weeks before the show? So when did he apply and agree to do the show? When was he with this girlfriend?" fumed one.

A second grumbled: "Oh, so Tommy left his girlfriend to come on LI."

Others have been left calling on Love Island to do more research to check contestants truly are single when applying.

"Love Island needs a strict breakup time limit before applying, because why is Tommy in the villa when he had a girlfriend three weeks prior his entry?? Are we just gonna brush past this orrrr?" asked one.

Viewers will have to watch tonight to find out whether Yasmin can handle it, after a preview clip reveals she is questioning things in the dressing room: "I just don’t want to look like an idiot again.”
