Following a seven-year absence, ITV producers have reportedly dug out a Love Island challenge hailed by many as 'TV gold'.
Often nicknamed the 'Twitter challenge' by longtime fans of the dating show hit, the chaos-causing game hasn't aired since 2019, when it famously rocked a number of that year's couples.
It almost ended Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury's romance when a scathing tweet informed the boxer, 'Nah, Tommy deserves more than Molly-Mae. She doesn’t like him. She likes £50k'.
The row that followed saw the social media influencer dubbed 'Money-Mae' for several weeks.
Two years earlier, the same challenge featured a social media message from the one and only Stormzy, who told wannabe rapper Chris Hughes, 'Chris, you’re too good for her mate', about his now-ex, Olivia Attwood.
The challenge last aired in 2019 (ITV) While entertaining to some viewers, the challenge was regarded as 'brutal' by others, who were left concerned over the impact that statements had on contestants in the villa.
While it triggered heated arguments by revealing how the public viewed them, the segment also attracted backlash after fans speculated that some of the tweets used had been fabricated to trigger full-fledged rows.
As such, creators went back to the drawing board, hoping to one day revive the challenge.
And as we say, it's finally been introduced with a slight twist.
According to a press release issued by producers just moments ago, tonight's episode will begin with Mica Harris receiving a text that reads, 'Islanders, tonight get ready for revelations as you play a game of Tea, Receipts and Truths'.
The challenge almost broke up Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury (ITV) It'll see the group gathered around the fire pit for the shocking challenge, during which they'll take it in turns to expose views the public have had about their on-screen antics so far, or comfort statements they've made in the villa about each other.
Hence, 'Tea' or 'Receipts'.
Each team will be shown a comment made online by a viewer of the show, and must identify which islander the 'tweet' references. If they get it right, they earn a point - if they fail, they'll be hit by a penalty.
An example set to feature tonight will say, 'They’re having an affair in plain sight'.
If they choose 'Villa Receipts', however, they'll read remarks like 'I reckon the s*x would be mad, we’ve got to share a bed tonight and I’m worried', and will have to predict which of their co-stars said it, and which cast mate it's about.
This year's viewers are predicting total chaos (ITV) Another message will say, 'You know what puts me off? She has a big ego', so you know it's about to go off.
An insider told The Sun: "The game throws the villa into complete chaos as what the public thinks of the islanders is exposed.
"Comments that islanders would rather have stayed secret will also come out in the open."
As to the chaos set to ensue, they revealed: "Two of the villa couples are left fuming, and it caused HUGE drama."
By the sounds of it, many fans can't contain their excitement.
"I like tweet challenge so much, I’m sat for it," one X user wrote.
"Love it," another added.
