The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss announces first pregnancy

She confirmed the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss has announced she's pregnant with her first child.

The 41-year-old Emmy Award-winning actor showcased her baby bump on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week and has since opened up about how she's faring with her pregnancy journey.

The official Instagram account for Jimmy Kimmel Live! has since shared a snippet from the segment from Tuesday night (30 January) to Instagram.

During the talk show, the host asked Elisabeth: "Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?"

The Mad Men star jokingly replied: "A little bit of both."

She went on to share with viewers she's been 'really lucky' throughout her pregnancy journey, adding: "It’s been going really well."

Elisabeth then asked Jimmy for some advice before he was reminded of the advice he his wife, Molly McNearney, received from Hollywood A-lister, Bill Murray, when she was expecting one of their four children together.

Jimmy recalled: "He said, 'Bring Christmas lights to hang up [in the delivery room]'," adding that the Ghostbusters actor also suggested bringing in battery-powered candles.

"Because the lighting is terrible in the room," Jimmy continued. "It's Walmart-style lighting for this blessed event that's going to happen and you don't want that."

Elisabeth, who is fairly private about her personal life, did not share any further details about the baby.

The actor plays the protagonist, June Osborne, in Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, a dystopian drama based on Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel of the same title.

The premise reads: "Multi-Emmy-winning US drama series set in a dystopian society that treats women as property of the state, forcing many into sexual servitude to repopulate a devastated world."

Fans of the gripping series were buzzing to find out that, before the show's fifth season debuted back in September 2022, the streaming platform renewed the show for a sixth and final season.

"Okay they need to hurry up with The Handmaid’s Tale season six," penned one X, formerly Twitter, user.

A second wrote: "I want The Handmaid’s Tale season six right now!"

"I just need The Handmaid’s Tale season six so I can finally have my peace," echoed a final fan of the series.

Moss was previously married to American comedian and writer, Fred Armisen, for around a year before their divorce was finalised back in 2011.
