Furious Taylor Swift fans respond to brutal criticism of controversial new album cover

Swifties have gathered in their masses to defend the 35-year-old 'Bad Blood' star

Swifties are arguably one of the most dedicated fan bases out there.

So, you just know that whenever their beloved singer, Taylor Swift, receives any heat online, they'll be quick to rush to her defence and call out the keyboard warriors for their hateful comments.

And that's proven true today after the 35-year-old 'Bad Blood' singer revealed the album cover art for her upcoming album titled The Life of a Showgirl on today's episode of her boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast.

The album in question, which will be released into the world on 3 October, shows Taylor partially submerged in the water, wearing a diamonté brassiere with embellished detailing going down her torso, as well as a few bracelets on her wrist.

And as for what the album's main theme will be, the Grammy award-winning star explained that it will tell the story of 'everything that was going on behind the curtain' amidst her hugely successful Eras Tour.

Explaining why she posed in a bathtub for the shoot, she shared: "My day ends with me in a bathtub, not usually in a bedazzled dress.

"I wanted to glamorise all the different aspects of how that tour felt."

Despite the very clear 'showgirl' theme, hence the showgirl styling, many critics were left up in arms about Taylor's allegedly 'inappropriate' get-up.

But, coming to her rescue, one Reddit user pointed out: "Ugh. Celebrities are not meant to be your children's role models. Be a parent and explain to your child that adults have bodily autonomy and may do things sometimes that they don't need to copy."

A second chimed in: "I completely agree, but I also think most critics are being disingenuous. They don't actually care whether Swift is a good role model, they just personally disapprove of her actions and the societal trends they infer from them. 'Think of the children' is one of the oldest rhetorical tactics there is."

"Taylor has personally met hundreds of parents and their children who look up to her," defended a third. "She visited hospitals and gave nothing but kindness. She doesn't give a single f*ck what some random people on the internet think of her.

"She's been in the business for... 20 years now? She knows she's got people who want to twist everything she does or says. She won't care."

A fourth explained: "I can understand people being iffy about teenage artists being a bad influence (although it's not the artist's responsibility of course) but Taylor will be 36 this winter. She's a grown woman, people want her to be this wholesome teen forever, it's just ridiculous."

"She’s a whole 35-year-old woman. These pearl-clutching regressive parents need to hush," jabbed another.

And a final Redditer echoed: "Ffs she is a 35-year-old woman... who is a great businesswoman, amazing artist and seemingly kind person. Those are traits your child could look up to.

"She has also right to pose however she likes, even if you don't like it."

The Life of a Showgirl will be released on 3 October.
