Suits star Gabriel Macht has opened up about the reason behind his decision to leave the United States after explaining why he is keeping 'under wraps' where he and his family have relocated to.

The 53-year-old actor, who shares two children with fellow Bridget Jones star Jacinda Barrett, has made the decision to move from the US, despite reprising his role as Harvey Specter in the series spinoff Suits LA.

In an interview published on Wednesday (29 January), Macht told PEOPLE there was just one reason why he was putting himself back in the shoes of the beloved character.

"I'm just doing it for the fans. I'm not doing it for me. I've done it 134 times. I'm not doing it for me," Macht, who is now a creative partner and executive shareholder in Bear Fight Whiskey, revealed.

"I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now because I spent so much time [doing it] and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff like Bear Fight," he added.

The actor explained that he'd only make an appearance on the TV series if there was 'a way to do this where it made sense for my family, it made sense for the timing and if there was a way that I could sort of pass the baton to Stephen [Amell] and the cast in LA'.

Opening up about his thought process, Macht continued: "If I [could have] anything to do with helping support the show and getting it off [the ground], it’s almost like [giving] a blessing."

Macht has recently opened up about why he is refusing to tell anyone where he now lives after leaving the United States with his family.

"I don’t tell anybody where I live because I like to keep that under wraps," he told People in an interview published Monday (27 January). "I got out of town and we’re exploring the world."

He also revealed that his family's original plans were put on pause following the pandemic, sharing: "Right before COVID, we wanted to take the kids out of school and homeschool them.

"But then we got stuck and so we were in Manhattan. That just wasn’t doing it for us. We decided to explore the world, so we left."

Macht explained that he grew up in Los Angeles and lived in New York for 'many, many years', speaking on his time in the States as spending 'half of my life on the East Coast, half of my life on the West Coast'.

After playing his character on Suits for an impressive nine seasons, from 2011 to 2019, the father-of-two decided to take a break from the 'biz and explore new career pathways with Bear Fight Whiskey.

"I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now, because I spent so much time [doing it] and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff, like Bear Fight," he shared.

Despite this new professional venture, it's clear that fans have nothing to worry about after he assured them he will be returning to our screens as his character in the upcoming spinoff, Suits LA.
