What Selena Gomez actually mouthed before accepting her SAG Award

It was the 31st annual SAG Awards yesterday (23 February) and it's clear Selena Gomez had an extremely good night after accepting an award she really didn't expect to win.

The 32-year-old Emilia Pérez actress looked seriously shocked after Only Murders in the Building won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

She could be seen standing up totally gobsmacked as she mouthed something to those on her table before making her way to the stage with her co-stars, Michael Cyril Creighton, Molly Shannon and Richard Kind.

Selena mouthed 'What?!' following the announcement before later looking around the audience with her eyes wide and mouth open as she said: "Do I have to talk?

"I can’t talk."

Despite the initial shock, she went on to deliver a heartfelt speech kicking off with a touchingly candid eight-word statement: "Wait, we never win. This is so weird."

Speaking of her cast mates, Martin Short and Steve Martin, who weren't at the ceremony, the 'Calm Down' singer jokingly continued: "Well, Marty and Steve aren't here because, you know, they don't really care.

"But I don't know what to say. Thank you to Marty and Steve for helping raise me. I genuinely am just so grateful [to] everybody, the writers. Everyone deserves this, and I take it home for all of us."

Selena was also sure to mention the upcoming season of the hit comedy-drama series, adding: "I'm bringing this back to New York for season five.

"Thank you so much. I'm so grateful. Thank you, SAG-AFTRA. Thank you to everybody. I love you."

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out, however, that Selena's reaction was reminiscent of Beyoncé's viral reaction to her Best Country Album win at the Grammys earlier this month.

Taylor Swift presented the accolade, announcing Cowboy Carter as the room erupted into a sea of applause and cheers.

Beyoncé was clearly stunned, and so was her eldest daughter Blue Ivy, 13, who sat next to her mum in the audience.

After taking a few seconds to let the news soak in, the singer made her way to the stage to accept the award.

She also accidentally created a brand new meme - something which fans reckon Selena has now done too.

"She pulled a Beyoncé on that one," penned one Twitter user.

A second quipped: "Now we have a new meme about a surprise winning. Selena Gomez is the new Beyoncé at the Grammys #SAGAwards."

And a final social media user quote-tweeted a video of Selena's award reaction with a gif of Bey from the Grammys with the caption 'Selena'.
