Nina Dobrev had an awkward exchange on the red carpet at the Venice International Film Festival.
The The Vampire Diaries actress was posing for photographs at the premiere of Ink on 2 September when the unexpected moment unfolded. She joined a star-studded guest list at the opening ceremony of the 83rd edition of one of the biggest nights in film.
Nina wore an Armani Privé sequin gown as she posed for photographs. The strapless dress featured an asymmetric neckline and a fitted bodice with dramatic olive-green panels on both sides of the dress, cascading all the way to the floor to create an elegant train.
As fans cheered, she was interrupted by a man in a dark suit. The gentleman approached the star and raised his arm, appearing to instruct her to leave the red carpet. He seemingly said something to Nina, who looked confused during the exchange.

A woman, who could not be seen on camera, appeared to intervene, allowing the actress a few more moments to pose for photographs.

But after rearranging the train and resuming her poses for the cameras, another man eventually stepped in and ushered her away from the red carpet.
The awkward exchange quickly went viral on social media, with fans particularly drawn to Nina’s reaction as she walked away.
Many took to the comments to question what had prompted the incident and why the exchange had unfolded in the first place.
“If I were Nina Dobrev getting kicked off of the Venice Film Festival red carpet, I would've evaporated from sheer embarrassment,” one person wrote.
Another wrote: “Did she stay too long, or was it their lack of organisation? Either way, it was embarrassing."
However, some fans tried to defend the security team’s actions, writing: “She wasn't kicked out; she just didn't have much time to pose for the photos, so the security guy asked her to keep walking and she made that face like she didn't understand."
Tyla has contacted Venice Film Festival and representatives for Nina Dobrev for comment.

Earlier this year, Nina was spotted enjoying a stroll through New York City with model Douglas “Dougie” Joseph over the weekend, adding fuel to romance rumours surrounding the pair.
They appeared close as they walked together, with the model seen kissing Dobrev on the cheek and embracing the actress. Dobrev’s beloved dog, Maverick, also joined them for the outing.
Photos taken on July 11 come just weeks after the pair first sparked speculation about a potential romance. The sighting also comes around 10 months after Dobrev’s split from fiancé Shaun White was confirmed.
The former couple had been together for five years before calling off their engagement. At the time, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE that the decision was “a mutual decision” made “with love and a deep respect for one another.”
Nina recently starred in the film The Get Out alongside Russell Crowe. It follows Crowe as Manco Kapak, a nightclub owner planning to retire, whose exit is derailed when he's caught between masked gunmen (Dobrev and Paul), a ruthless cartel, and a mysterious buyer.
