Neil Patrick Harris once revealed why he doesn’t want to know which twin is biologically his after leaving fans speechless over one key detail in a brand-new photo.
Last week, the 52-year-old How I Met Your Mother star took to Instagram to share with his 8.9 million followers the latest update of his and husband David Burtka's two children, Gideon and Harper, who are 14 years old.
The twins, who are non-identical, as two separate eggs were used, were carried by a surrogate who gave birth to them in 2010.
Harris and Burtka, 50, who is also an actor, each donated sperm in the hopes that either would fertilise the egg, but to their surprise, the twins were conceived meaning neither parent knows which twin is biologically theirs.

"The kids are entering high school this year (how wait what??), and they are at last allowed to rid themselves of their Chromebook anchors and ascend to the world of the MacBook. Huzzah!" Harris captioned the sweet snap, prompting many to gush over just how quickly the two kids have grown up.
One fan penned: "Hey, I’m pretty sure they were just toddlers a few weeks ago, so there’s no way!"

"My knees just cracked what do you mean they’re in high school!" quipped a second, while a third chimed in: "When did they stop being toddlers?"

And a final echoed: "And I was just about going into high school when they were born! The time how she flies!"
Others claimed they had worked out which twin was biologically Harris', with one writing: "I knew Gideon would look like you but wow. Beautiful preteen adults."

But others disagreed, with some saying Harper looked more like Harris, while one fan said: "How is it that they honestly look like both of you?! They're gorgeous."
Speaking to American broadcaster and journalist Barbara Walters in 2014, Harris explained why he has 'no interest' in finding out whether Harper or Gideon is biologically his.
He said: "We inserted one of my sperm and one of David's sperm into two eggs with the hope that they would both take, just because we both wanted to be dads biologically. Both took, miraculously."

Harris also explained that he has no interest in finding out which of his twins are his biologically.
He explained: "I have no interest in [finding out]. We are their parents and I love them implicitly."
While the couple have no idea about who the biological father is for each of their children, Harris said that they have suspicions 'based on their behaviour'.
However, the American Horror Story star did not reveal what those suspicions were, nor what child he thought could be his biologically.
