Miley Cyrus finally breaks silence on family feud rumours with telling statement

Amid speculation of family tensions, Miley Cyrus has issued a new damning statement, addressing the rumours of her relationship status with her parents.

For over a year, fans have worried that the singer has endured falling outs with both of her parents - country music star father Billy Ray Cyrus, and talent manager mother Tish Cyrus-Purcell.

The couple filed for divorce in 2022 after 29 years of marriage, after which it was alleged that 'Flowers' singer Miley had sided with her mother, leaving Billy Ray out in the cold.

Whilst the 32-year-old Hannah Montana star failed to respond publicly to news of her father's new relationship with fellow country star Firerose, Miley was said to be in full support of her mother's subsequent marriage to Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell.

The hitmaker also unfollowed Billy Ray, 63, on social media, and failed to give her dad a shout out during her famous Grammy's speech last year.

Following the star-studded ceremony, she also shared a post-win Instagram snap, once again thanking all of her biggest supporters whilst explicitly neglecting to mention her father.

Page Six also reported that Billy Ray's performance at Donald Trump's inauguration concert back in January cemented their estrangement, with a source claiming that Miley hasn't spoken to her dad for 'a long time' and has 'no interest' in changing that.

And more recently, Miley is also reported to have cut ties with her mother, with a fan noticing that Tish no longer followers her daughter on Instagram.

Apparently, however, the latest speculation on her family's drama has hit a nerve with Miley, who released a passionate statement emphasising that she and her mum's relationship has never been better.

Taking to social media, she wrote: "I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us."

Miley continued: "She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental and uninteresting."

Surprisingly, the 'Wrecking Ball' chart-topper also made a reference to her father in the message to both fans and the media.

"My dad and I have had our challenges over the years," she initially admitted. "Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing."

Miley concluded her post with a heartwarming sentiment, adding: "Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family."

On Friday (9 May), the Disney alum also emphasised that she still garners a lot of love for her old man, sharing a snap of the pair alongside one another after they came together to celebrate Miley's younger brother Braison’s 31st birthday.
