The internet’s favourite conspiracy theory has been reignited once again - Melania Trump and her supposed body double.

For years now, many have latched on to the bizarre idea that the first lady, 55, has a 'clone' that sometimes goes to events in her place with her husband, Donald Trump, 79.

Wild conspiracists usually think that it’s ‘fake Melania’ when she’s spotted wearing big sunglasses or a similar accessory to obscure her face.

Other alleged changes in Melania's physical appearance that the internet has picked out include her jawline apparently looking different, her seemingly growing taller, or her face shape 'changing' in general.

The theory kickstarted all the way back in 2017 when the pair visited Secret Service agents after the hurricanes in Florida.

At the time, a video circulated online which showed Melania standing as still as a statue, wearing giant sunglasses as Trump oddly said: “My wife Melania… who happens to be right here.”

Social media quickly spread the insane rumour and the theory has lingered online ever since.

So, while donning some huge reflective white sunnies during a football appearance at the weekend, it’s no surprise that those who believe the theory think Melania’s body double was out again on Sunday (13 July).

It came as Trump and Melania attended the final of the Club World Cup, where they watched Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0.

The couple watched on from a box, before Trump helped carry out the trophy to the players and even stayed front and centre while they celebrated.

For the outing, Melania was wearing a long white skirt tucked into a matching T-shirt, as well as the statement reflective shades.

Taking to X, social media users have sparked a conversation around the theory, convinced that it was a 'body double' in attendance at the game.

One user boldly wrote: “FAAAAAAAKE MELANIA. She's the hired body double. LOOK AT HER JAWLINE. And height. etc. Not Melania. Never was.”

Another user penned: “THAT IS NOT MELANIA.”

Meanwhile, a third claimed: “Not Melania. Body double again. Every public appearance has been a body double.”

Someone else alleged: “When body double Melania accompanies the lying Trump, she always uses large sunglasses to cover the differences.”

One eagle-eyed conspiracy theorist even claimed to recognise the alleged body double as someone who was used ‘in the first term’.

They wrote: “That isn't Melania. It's the body double we saw in the first term that always wears sunglasses.”

Tyla has contacted the White House for comment.
