Guys, it's happening - Netflix has just announced a brand new Bridgerton spin-off that will tell the love story of young Violet and Edmund Bridgerton.
The streaming platform announced the news in a social media post on Thursday (8 October), in the form of a very special edition of Lady Whistledown's society papers.
The announcement reads: "Dearest Gentle Reader, this author writes to you with most exciting news... The time has come for us to turn our attention to the Matriarch of our beloved Bridgertons.
"A new series, chronicling the romance of a young Violet and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, is underway.

"The love match that started it all shall soon be yours to see, dear reader. This author shall be sure to inform you of any updates. Until then... yours truly, Lady Whistledown.
It comes after the Shonda Rhimes show's first hugely successful spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which was released back in May 2023 and became an instant fan favourite.
This time, as we say, viewers will be turning their attention to the romance of young Violet and her eventual husband, Viscount Edmund, the parents of Bridgerton’s eight beloved siblings.
In the main TV series, the character is currently played by Ruth Gemmell, while Edmund was played by Rupert Evans in a few flashback episodes.
As fans of the Bridgerton universe will know, Edmund tragically died before the birth of his youngest child, Hyacinth, when he was 38, leaving his widow, Violet, heartbroken.
The series shows how she navigates life and raises her children without her partner, with the last season even giving her a new love interest in a slow-burn romance with Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis).
But now, fans are excited to see how her grand first love began - the story that started it all!
Tudum reports that Bridgerton executive producer Rhimes will co-write, showrun, and EP the romantic drama alongside Nicholas Nardini. All other casting and release date details are yet to be revealed.
Reacting to the exciting news, one fan wrote on X: "The story that started a generation of romance is finally coming home," while a second added: "I’ve been waiting for thissssss."

A third penned: "OMG you don't know how long I've been waiting to see young Violet with Edmund."
And a fourth and fifth gushed: "WE’RE SO SEATED DEAR AUTHOR" and "Yassss we’re so back!!!!"
While a sixth chimed in with: "This is just so special to me. I can’t wait for this."
And a seventh and eighth wrote: "Can't believe it's actually happening" and "FINALLY OUR EDMUND VIOLET LOVE STORY".
"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine y'all would actually give us this omfggg," admitted a ninth.
It comes as Bridgerton is currently filming its fifth season, which will follow Violet’s introverted third daughter Francesca (Hannah Dodd) in her second-chance romance with bold heiress Michaela (Masali Baduza), following the death of her husband John Stirling (Victor Alli).
The fourth series hit screens in two parts in January and February of this year and followed the forbidden romance between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
