Meghan Trainor has revealed why she decided to lose weight after admitting to using Mounjaro.
Mounjaro is traditionally used to treat people with Type 2 diabetes, however, the drug can also help users lose weight.
This is because when it's taken by somebody who doesn't have diabetes, it works to enhance insulin secretion but lowers glucagon secretion to lower a person’s blood sugar levels and also limit their appetite.

The 'Dear Future Husband' singer divided opinion after she revealed she'd used Mounjaro to aid her weight loss journey.

Some people criticised the 31-year-old, who'd previously released body positivity anthem 'All About That Bass', after she changed the lyrics from 'It’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two' to 'It’s pretty clear, I got some new boobs', during a recent performance.
One person wrote online: "I can only imagine how hard it would be for people who connected with her early in her career because she was body positive to see her succumb to Ozempic."

Others applauded Meghan for being candid about her experience - the singer openly credited Mounjaro for her new body on Instagram - saying: "I'm glad she's being honest about it at least. I'm so tired of people, especially 'body positive' influencers who have made a living on telling others to love themselves, lying about this."

Since showing off her new look, Meghan has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she decided to lose weight.
Taking to Instagram last month (1 April), she said: "No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me."

Meghan shares two sons - Riley, four, and Barry, 21 months - with her husband and Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara.
She began her weight loss journey after welcoming Riley in 2021, losing 60 pounds through diet and exercise.
"I was in a really dark place, and I wanted to be in a great place for my son," Meghan told Entertainment Tonight Canada in 2022. "I worked [out] every day. I learned that I do like healthy food, and I learned what portions mean."

And, after giving birth to Barry in 2023, she resumed her weight loss efforts, using Mounjaro to help her along the way.
"You have to put in the work as well," Trainor said during an April 2025 episode of her podcast Workin' On It. "We stay in the gym, we work out, we eat right, and we just noticed that we were less hungry."
And, speaking about her dramatic transformation, she wrote on Instagram: "I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy.
"And I’m so glad I did because I feel great. Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first."
