Meghan Trainor's use of the hotly-debated diabetes drug Mounjaro to shed a few pounds has subsequently become somewhat of a family affair.

It turns out that her husband, Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara also injects himself with the daily medication.

"Daryl and I both do everything together," the 'All About That Bass' singer revealed on the latest episode of their popular Workin’ On It podcast.

Apparently, however, the couple's decision to take Mounjaro wasn't spurred by vanity, or simply wanting to appear thinner during red carpet appearances. The pair allege that their reasoning stems from something a lot closer to their hearts.

For those in need of a reminder, the drug - which contains tirzepatide - was recently approved for weight loss management.

Mounjaro's primary use is, however, to treat the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, lowering blood sugar levels and targeting both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors that serve as the body's appetite-regulating hormones.

In an Instagram post shared earlier this month, Grammy-winner Trainor admitted she'd recently joined the ever-growing list of celebrities administering the drug, whilst showing off her newly trimmed-down physique.

The mother-of-two added that the decision was prompted by her children - sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 21 months.

"No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago," she penned on 1 April.

"I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me. I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy."

As we say, since then, the musician has since revealed that her husband Sabara takes the same drug - also in a bid to become the best version of themselves for their children, and improve their general health.

"We did 75 Hard after Riley was born and, man, did we crush," the child actor said, referring to a super strict social media challenge aimed at pushing individuals to improve their physical fitness and mental insight by maximising exercise, cutting out alcohol, and restricting dieting.

"Then, we heard more and more of our friends - and even our doctors - were on Mounjaro and Ozempic," Trainor then chimed in.

She added that, after some research, she and her doctor found that the former drug 'had less side affects', and eventually inspired Sabara to take the plunge also. "Daryl and I both do everything together," she joked.

The couple - who wed in December 2018, four years after first meeting at a house party, after which they were set up on a date by mutual friend Chloë Grace Moretz - went on to emphasise that 'you have to put in the work as well.'

"We were like, 'We have to make sure we don’t lose muscle that we worked so hard gaining all those years,'" Trainor explained.

"We stay in the gym, we work out, we eat right, and we just noticed that we were less hungry."

Her husband then added: "We’ve been on this journey for a while and we learned how there are right ways to do it and there are improper ways to do it."
