Today (28 Oct), Kelly Osbourne will celebrate her 41st birthday.

Earlier this week, however, the TV star predicted that the major milestone would prove a rather bittersweet occasion, being that it's Kelly's first birthday following the passing of her rock star father.

Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy died following a heart attack back in July, having also suffered from acute myocardial infarction, as well as both coronary artery and Parkinson’s disease.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love," his loved ones added in a statement given to press at the time. "We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Alongside Kelly, the much-loved musician left behind wife of four decades, X Factor star Sharon, son Jack, 39, and daughter Aimee, 42.

In the days after his tragic passing was made public, Kelly shared an emotional tribute online, writing on her Instagram story: "I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had [heartbroken emoji]."

The reference was a quote from Black Sabbath's 1972 song 'Changes', which she and her father released as a duet in 2003.

As we say, however, ahead of her birthday on Tuesday, Kelly shared another special message in honour of the fallen rocker.

Taking to Instagram, the media personality uploaded a carousel of childhood photos alongside Ozzy, which also included snaps of a series of birthday cards he'd hand-written for her in her younger years.

Kelly captioned the collection: "Tomorrow is going to be a first for me. The first birthday without my dad.

"Every year the thing I looked forward to the most was spending the day with him and the cards he would write me. Knowing that I will never get one again shatters my heart. Here are just a few of them."

The mother-of-one - who shares a three-year-old son named Sidney with Slipknot keyboardist Sid Wilson - added of Ozzy's sentimental notes: "They were always short, simple but said everything I needed to hear.

"I love you Daddy tomorrow will suck without you."

One message written by Ozzy on the back of a birthday card simply read, 'Dearest Kelly, I just want to say that I love and miss you every second of the day, love Daddy'.

Another also read, 'Dear Kelly, I love you, Daddy xxxxxx'.

In the hours since her heartfelt upload, Kelly has been inundated with supportive messages from fans, including one, who wrote in the comments: "Oh Kelly, thinking of you. Your dad was such an incredible person and he loved you so much. He is always with you. Happy birthday."

Another gushed: "Breaks my heart Kell. Happy Birthday tomorrow. I know he will send you a little sign- he’s with you always - I love you."

"Much Strength & Power," a third added. "Your Dad is watching over You. Happy Birthday."
