Katy Perry fans have rallied around the singer, alleging that lyrics in her new track hint at the presumed reason behind her breakup with actor Orlando Bloom.
The 41-year-old, currently in the midst of her Lifetimes Tour, has released her first song since she and The Lord of the Rings star, 48, confirmed in July that their engagement had been called off.
At the time of their split, a statement confirmed they’d continue to co-parent their only daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, five.
The ‘Hot N Cold’ singer has since been spotted out for dinner and holidaying on a yacht with ex-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, with the latter also being videoed attending the star’s concert in Montreal.

On Thursday (6 November), the musician appeared to reference some of the reasons behind her and Bloom’s split in both ‘Bandaids’ lyrics and its official music video.

In the visual accompaniment, Perry was seen washing dishes and accidentally dropping what looks like an engagement ring down the sink.
Fans think she seemingly alludes to her and Bloom’s break-up in the lyrics: “Hand to God I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t / You were there but you weren’t.”
She goes on to sing: “Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now.
“Telling myself you'll change, you don't / Band-Aids over a broken heart.”
Other lyrics that possibly provide hints to her personal life include: “On the bright side, we had good times / Never faked our pictures.
“We were perfect 'til we weren't / Now we've got too many splinters.”

Elsewhere in the music video, Perry experiences an injured hand and falls out of a tree.
Many are convinced the lyrics are related to the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker, with one taking to X to type: “Oh Katy Perry is COMING for Orlando Bloom, this is getting serious.”
Their comment was shared alongside an image explaining how Perry’s ‘Bandaids’ video saw her channelling Ready or Not’s lead character, Grace, a woman who is betrayed by her husband.
“Katy Perry isn’t letting heartbreak break her. Instead, she’s telling her story the way she knows best,” commented someone else.
A third noted: “releasing ‘Bandaids’ after she wrote never worn white for the SAME man.... Katy Perry you really deserved better.”
Prior to ‘Bandaids’, Perry had not released new music since her 2024 album, 143, which is shorthand for the phrase ‘I love you’.

Speaking about the record a year on, the mother-of-one typed via Instagram: “Records are snapshots of an artist trying to tell their story of where they are now or have been and hope someone will hear themselves in some of the messages.”
Just days before his ex-fiancée reflected on 143, Bloom opened up about their split for the first time.
Speaking to Today’s Craig Melvin ahead of his latest blockbuster, The Cut, the Hollywood icon said he and his former famous flame shared the most ‘beautiful daughter’ together.
“You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it. And we're great. We're going to be great. Nothing but love," Bloom said.
Perry and Bloom met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016. They reconnected a few days later at a Stella McCartney fashion show and were soon embroiled in an on-off relationship.
