Katy Perry has faced a divided response over her comment to a fan who opened up about not wanting to 'be here anymore' as a result of financial struggles.
On Tuesday (March 10), a Katy Perry fan took to social media to open up about their mental health struggles and dilemma at needing money so badly they were considering selling their ticket to one of the musician's shows.
They wrote on X: "I so badly don’t wanna be here anymore. I’m not cut out for this world like I cannot afford to live at this rate and I’m so close to selling my Katy ticket."

Perry is set to continue her tour at a host of shows held across Europe, headed to the UK in June.
Perry herself saw and responded to the tweet, writing: "But I am looking forward to seeing you."
And it didn't take long for many social media users to condemn the response.

One said: "God, you are so out of touch. Someone is clearly going through it and your best response is “but im looking forward to seeing you!”. Gross. Do better."
"Maybe you could help your fan, millionaire. jesus," another added.
A third wrote: "'"nooo don't die yet you gotta go to my show first and give me the rest of your money aha'."
"Guys if she buys this depressed fan a ticket to her own show, then how is she gonna afford another trip with Bezos to outer space??? Like c'mon," a fourth added.
However, others were quick to leap to Perry's defence.
A user wrote: "Super classy reply, Katy! Very thoughtful of you to take a second to reply to her."

"What a premium motivation that jump-starts the drive to hang on. Very kind of you," a second said.
Another questioned: "This was a very sweet reply and her fan loved it. What’s wrong with you people?"
Not long after the post, Perry took to Instagram to share a photo dump, captioning the post: "You are the treasure you seek."
