Katy Perry has left fans confused after she boldly claimed that she was the 'most hated person on the internet.'
The online narrative surrounding the 'Firework' singer and mum-of-one hasn't been entirely positive lately.
On 14 April, she was part of Blue Origin's first all-woman space flight - a journey which lasted for around 11 minutes and took the crew over 100km (62 miles) above Earth.

After parachuting back down to Earth, Perry was photographed kissing the ground, claiming the experience made her feel 'super connected to love.'
But people weren't impressed by the venture, with many criticising both the flight and its crew online.

In a video posted to TikTok, model Emily Ratajkowski slammed the mission's extortionate cost and called it 'disgusting.'

Katy later admitted that the Blue Origin backlash left her feeling 'battered and bruised.'
And before that, she faced criticism for working with musician and producer Dr. Luke on her single 'Woman's World,' despite allegations of sexual assault made against him by Kesha.
A nine-year legal battle ensued after the 'Tik Tok' singer accused him in 2014 of drugging and raping her back in 2005. The two parties reached a settlement in 2023.

Seemingly in response to the criticism she's faced over the past year, Perry made the bold claim that she was the 'most hated person on the internet' during a Chicago performance of her Lifetimes Tour earlier this week (12 May).
In a clip that has since been posted to Instagram, the singer reacts to the audience's thunderous applause by saying: "Well, I thought I was the most hated person on the internet."
As the fans continue to cheer, she adds: "I think that's false!"
And the bold remark has left people pretty confused, with many surprised that she'd even say that.

Below the Instagram reel, one person commented: "Deluluuuuuuuuu."

Another said: "Not when there’s people like Trump, Elon, and other conservatives…"
And a third wrote: "Her lack of self awareness is insane."

Meanwhile, a fourth sniped: "Of course Katy, or anyone, would most likely get validation from an audience full of paying fans."
Katy has previously opened up about how the hate she receives affects her.
"Please know I am OK, I have done a lot work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me," she wrote on Instagram last month.
"My therapist said something years ago that has been a game changer: 'No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself.' And if I ever do have any feelings about it, then it’s an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it."
