Justin and Hailey Bieber defended after rumour that they had ‘intense’ conversation at wedding sparked

Fans of Justin and Hailey Bieber have come to the couple’s defence after internet users assumed they were having an ‘intense’ conversation during a recent outing.

The couple were pictured at the wedding of Finneas O’Connell and Claudia Sulewski on Saturday (29 August) in Montecito, California.

Paparazzi photos from the event quickly went viral, with many observers interpreting the images as showing the pop star, 32, and the Rhode Skin founder, 29, having a tense exchange.

The pictures fuelled ongoing speculation about the couple’s relationship. “Justin Bieber looks so done with Hailey Bieber, it’s an humiliation ritual at this point,” one fan mused on X.

However, other fans have come to the couple’s defence, criticising people for assuming there was drama between them.

DeuxMoi claimed that the caption distributed alongside the paparazzi pictures read: “At one point during the festivities, Justin and Hailey Bieber stepped away from the other guests and appeared to share an emotional and serious conversation off to the side.”

It appears that interpreting the images as evidence of an argument may not be accurate.

“We know these reports are based on the photos because there are no sources cited confirming that Justin and Hailey were fighting,” DeuxMoi stated on Instagram.

Fans were quick to question where the speculation had originated, with one writing: “who started this rumor in the first place? lmao wtf,”

“People want them to be toxic and hate each other so bad it’s sad,” commented another fan.

A third fan wrote: “People want them to be in crisis so bad for YEARS now.”

Another fan asked others; “Why do u guys always wanted them to hates each other so bad?”

Another said: “I don’t get why people so badly want their relationship to fail. it’s the weirdest thing. i’ve ever seen. even if they were arguing or having a disagreement, it’s normal for couples to argue. like god forbid they represent a real life relationship rather than acting like their perfect all the time.”

Someone else said: “It’s literally obvious people just want to find reason to make them seem like a bad couple.”

“Yall want him to hate his wife sooo bad leave them alone," said a fan of the couple.

The Biebers were among a host of celebrity guests at the wedding, which also included O’Connell’s sister, Billie Eilish, as well as Kristen Bell, Dax Shephard, Jason Sudeikis, Nina Dobrev, Rachel Sennott, Emma Chamberlain and Stassie Karanikolaou.

The day after the wedding, Justin shared a series of selfies alongside his wife on Instagram while sitting during the outdoor ceremony with a backdrop of the Californian mountains.

This isn’t the first time the Biebers have faced relationship speculation since they tied the knot in 2018.

Hailey Bieber spoke out about it in an interview with Vogue in which she reflected on the ongoing critiques of her marriage.

"Well, I thought seven years in it would’ve [died down] already, and it hasn’t," she told Vogue. "You would think after having a child, people would maybe move on, chill out a little bit, but no.

"So I guess these b*****s are going to be mad."

The split speculation at that time stemmed from Justin appearing to have unfollowed his wife on social media on numerous occasions. Hailey appeared to have done the same.

Apparently, Hailey worries less about the impact that break-up rumours could have on her marriage, and more so about how they'll affect their son, two-year-old Jack Blues Bieber.

"I was so not confrontational before," she told the publication.

"It was not easy for me to express things that bothered me or when people were pushing or stepping over boundaries."

The make-up guru continued: "And now I just feel so much more clear about, 'Hey, this does not work for me.'"
