The pre-wedding bliss of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez has likely been somewhat tainted this week, after the couple were ruthlessly rinsed by social media critics for their ceremony invitations.
For those out of the loop with the Amazon founder's incoming nuptials, 61-year-old Bezos is expected to wed his journalist beau in Venice, Italy, over the weekend - two years after the pair announced their engagement. The duo previously dated for around five years.
Mum-of-three Sanchez, 55, was previously married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell. Bezos, meanwhile, was married to philanthropist MacKenzie Scott - with whom he shares four children.

However, the happy couple are soon to the the knot in the capital of the Veneto region.

Though a number of specifics - including the date and the particular venue - haven't yet been revealed to the public, part of a wedding invite that was reportedly sent to guests in May has been leaked to ABC News.
The letter in question had been adorned by cartoon images of butterflies, birds and feathers, as well as several sketches of Venice's famous landmarks, including the Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge), and a few gondolas.

By the sounds of things, however, many critics expected more from the invite, with some accusing Bezos and Sanchez of making it themselves.
"Looks like a 10 year old birthday invite," one jibed.
"It looks like it's been made in Windows 7 Paint," another added, while a third agreed, asking: "Was the invitation made in microsoft paint?"

Others were surprised by the impersonal nature of the invite, with one hitting out: "What a heartless invite. seems like a business dinner for donors."
Another agreed, demanding: "Wow! Did they just send an evite for their multi million dollar wedding?"
Someone else commented: "I thought the font on the world’s richest man’s wedding invite would be a bit different."
The contents of the letter reads: "We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts.

"Instead, we're making contributions in your honour and with gratitude to you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Venice."

The note continued: "Donations on your behalf are being made to the UNESCO Venice Office to safeguard this city's irreplaceable cultural heritage, to CORILA to restore the viral lagoon habitats that protect Venice's future, and to Venice International University to support research and education for sustainable solutions.
"This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories. Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come."
