Gordon Ramsay's transatlantic level of fame has come back to bite him this week, after his 2024 Mother's Day tribute sparked mass confusion amongst his American fans.

The celebrity chef took to Instagram on Sunday (30 Mar), where he shared a photo of he and his wife Tana (née Hutcheson) posing together during a family day out in Philadelphia.

For those in need of a reminder, the couple tied the knot 29 years ago in London, and have since gone on to welcome six children together.

The Ramsay's share daughters Megan, 26, and Matilda, 23, twins Holly and Jack, 25, and youngest sons Oscar, five, and Jesse, one.

Taking to social media over the weekend, the British restauranteur and TV host aimed a sweet Mother's Day tribute to Tana - who, herself, is an TV broadcaster and author of several cookery books.

"Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mums and soon-to-be Mums, thank you for all you do," Gordon gushed in the caption.

As we say, however, the Hell's Kitchen host's latest move prompted much debate, with many US-based fans taking to the comments to express their bewilderment.

Their confusion seemingly stemmed from the fact that Mother's Day isn't celebrated in the States until 11 May. In the UK, however, Mother's Day is known to take place on 30 March.

"Everyone’s panicking thinking that they forgot about Mother's Day now," one fan of Gordon - who operates a number of restaurants in America, including in Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Orlando - joked in the comments.

One added: "Gordon! I'm a huge fan, HOWEVER- it’s not Mother’s Day! Not sure what’s going on, but you are an inspiration!"

"Mother's Day? Ohhhhhh - I was about to text my kids like whaaat?!!!?! Happy Mothers Day," a third went on.

Another continued: "I thought it was in America I was like SINCE WHEN???"

Gordon's upload comes just weeks after he previously left his fan-base stumped by another social media upload.

I know, who knew this man was so cryptic?

Anyway - back in January, he left some of his followers with questions after they spotted a bizarre detail in the background of one of his Instagram snaps.

The culinary mogul shared photo of himself sitting on what looked like a private jet, dressed head-to-toe in black as he peered out of the window at a mysterious mountain landscape.

He then shared the elusive caption, 'Come fry with me… Big (and small) things on the way', leading many to wonder what he meant by 'small.'

"Why do you have a sauce pan next to you?" one asked after clocking onto what seems to be a teeny frying pan sitting in his double cup holder.

Another demanded of the pan: "Can we talk about the baby HexClad in the cup holder. ITS SO CUTE."

Others, seemed to interpret Gordon's post as a pregnancy announcement.

"Are you pregnant again, chef?!" a third asked.

I guess we'll never know what the 'small' things were...
