What Kylie Jenner said after Timothée Chalamet didn’t call by her name in Golden Globes speech

Chalamet is definitely on a winning streak!

Timothée Chalamet fans have been sent into a spiral after the 30-year-old actor was announced as the winner for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role in Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme in tonight's Golden Globes Awards.

Chalamet beat out George Clooney for Jay Kelly, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Lee Byung-Hun for No Other Choice and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia to the victory.

After his name was called, the Call Me by Your Name star gave his partner of three years, Kylie Jenner, a kiss before making his way to the stage and offering a heartfelt tribute to their relationship.

Chalamet thanked Marty Supreme director Josh Safdie, along with his co-stars, gushing: "If you had told me when I was 19 years old that I’d be thanking Mr Wonderful."

He finished by giving a shout out to his family and Jenner, adding: "To my parents and my partner, I love you, thank you so much."

Meanwhile, cameras panned to Jenner and caught her adorable reaction during the moment where she was seen mouthing: "I'm so happy."

Many fans were beyond obsessed with yet another dose of relationship cuteness between the it-couple, with one X user beaming: "She manifested Timothée winning the Golden Globe by dressing as the award!"

"Kylie seems so happy with Timothée, it’s so cute to see!" praised another.

Others, however, were confused over Chalamet's word choice of 'partner', with a fourth hitting out: "Timothée Chalamet keeps calling Kylie Jenner his partner for whatever reason idk?"

"Has Timothée Chalamet ever mentioned Kylie by name in an acceptance speech? I feel like she's always just 'my partner.'" asked a fifth.

Chalamet is definitely on a winning streak at the moment, given that just last week, at the Critics' Choice Awards, he beat out the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Joel Edgerton for Train Dreams, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent.

During his acceptance speech for the Best Actor award, Chalamet said: "Thank you to my partner for three years.

"Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn't do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much."

How Golden Globes voting actually works

Voting at the Golden Globes is very different to other big awards such as the Oscars. It also underwent a major overhaul after a 2021 investigation triggered widespread backlash in the industry. Here's how it all works:

Who chooses the Golden Globes winners?

Voting for the Golden Globes is made up of a group of around 300 entertainment journalists from around the world, who decide the winners of each category.

This is different to awards like the Oscars, which are voted on by industry peers such as fellow actors, directors and writers.

How can you become a Golden Globes voter?

According to the Golden Globes website, to apply to become a voter, you must ‘be an experienced international entertainment journalist working for a recognised media organisation’.

Strict policies for voters

There are strict policies that come along with being a Golden Globes voter, which include adhering to a 'code of conduct, a conflict of interest policy, and a gift ban policy prohibiting the acceptance of any gifts or promotional items from any studio, network, streamer, agency, or publicist’.

Previous controversy

Voting for the Golden Globes used to be governed by the now-defunct Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), but reforms were made after a 2021 investigation highlighted allegations of financial corruption, voting integrity and a lack of diversity, specifically that there were no Black members within the HFPA.
